well i just got back from a really long break from pokemon tcg and i wanted to return and play with a competitive deck i saw lavaflow theme deck and i was really impressed with magmortar's ability so here's my attempt to build a Magmortar deck slightly based on the theme deck
Pokemon 20
4x Magmar
3x Magmortar
1x Magmortar lvl x
2x Growlithe
2x Arcanine
3x Cyndaquil
2x Quilave
3x Typhlosion (Firestarter)
Energy 16
12x Fire
4x Dre
Trainer Cards 24
2x Roseanne's Research
4x Celios Network
4x Tv Reporter
2x Nightly Maintenance
2x Team Galaxy Wager
2x Copycat
3x Steven's Advice
3x Rare Candy
1x switch
1x Warp Point
the deck revolves around Magmortar's ability to dish out huge damage by pumping him up with the help of firestarter. Arcanine provides secondary attacker and will be able to save the active pokemon using its pokepower but also dish out 120 damage.
actually im not familiar with our metagame but from what ive heard water type are not that popular and even though i wanted to have electric as back up for Magmortar there are quite a few to choose from (electivire and Ampharos) which im not sure will fit the deck.
Any help modifications and suggestions are strongly needed and much appreciated
