I scored pretty big today! I went to my City Championships, and the TO's husband, the judge was selling some cards. So, I snatched up a few good deals, nothing spectacular for the moment. Then I looked some more and noticed a shadowless Charizard from the Base Set! Sweet! Then I kept looking and noticed a second shadowless Charizard... Next I noticed that both were 1st Edition and completely authentic! WOW! So I asked the price, and he said $10 since they weren't mint.... WAAAHAAH! Then I buy both in a heartbeat and move along. Later I come back and see a 1st Base Set Blastoise in there for $8. I later buy that too since it sounds like a good price.

So how much can I sell these things for on eBay?

One of the Charizards is in poor condition like it was played without sleeves for a while. I'm thinking about just saving that one for myself since it still cool. It has silver scratches on the front like a lot of old cards, and the back is not very shiny.

The second Charizard is in much better condition. A little bit of whitening on each border on the back, nothing major. The front is in good condition with only the tiniest little imperfections.

The Blastoise is nearly flawless on the front. The back is great with only one small region with whitening, and the other parts great other than some regular marks that come from picking the card up off of a flat surface.

So how much can I get for these things?

x1 Poor-Fair 1st Edition Charizard Base Set
x1 Good-Near Mint 1st Edition Charizard Base Set
x1 Near Mint 1st Edition Blastoise Base Set

It is hard for me to figure this out since there are such few things to compare with. But, I figured $10 for Charizards like that was no gamble at all. Thanks!

Wow, sounds like you had a great day, lol. I think you got some really good buys. I'm not sure hoe much they'd say for, but i think they'd sell higher than what you bought them for. The good condition charizard i think would sell from $30-$50, if not more. The damaged one, um, i can't tell :/ srry. As for the blastoise, just check ebay, there should be a few on there

-hope this helps :)

Thanks! Well, I looked yesterday at a completed Blastioise auction, and it was hard to figure the value since Blastoise 1st ED wasn't the only card in the auction. There a bunch of other cheap cards included like 1st ED Chancey and several old promos, but nothing too big. That one went for $61 if I recall corectly. Unfourtunately, that was the only listing I found with that type of Blastoise :frown:.

1st ed charizards mint are 75-100
That is about what the ones I saw on eBay sold for. It is just tricky to figure out how much the condition of the card affects the value when it is such a collectible card. With some card like Wailord ex, Lugia ex, and Charizard ex, the condition dosn't affect the value much since little kids are the ones who are into those. But with a card mainly for big collectors, I don't know how things would turn out. I don't know what type of market purchases 1st Edition Base Set Charizards, kids or hardcore collectors . Thanks!

Does anybody have a good estimate one the Blastoise?

I think Blastoise is worth 20-40$.
Thanks! When I bought it, I was expecting to get about $30 for it. I think I'll list it over the weekend on eBay! I'll report back what it goes for if anyone is interested (if it sells ). I'm thinking about selling one of the Charizards later since a lot of people are probably penny less after all of the holiday shopping.

Well, I made some mega profits. Blastoise only got one bid, and he sold for $16.95 with only one bid. There were at least 7 people watching that auction, so it had some interest. I'd say its worth anywhere from $12-$22 based off of my sale.

The good condition Charizard sold for a lot at $68.06! There are still a lot of people looking for that one! It had at least 14 watchers, 330 page views, and more than a few questions. I'd say that ones in decent condition to near mint will tend to sell for $55-90. The ones that are truly in mint would probably be much higher.

I'm thinking about hanging onto the poor condition Charizard until prices shoot up, or I may just keep it for my own collection since it is so cool to have. I kind of collect special Charizards anyway.

Do you guys think the price of 1st ED Charizard will raise over the years, or will it fall swiftly as it has since the beginning?

Wow, nice! I thought Blastoise would go for more, but oh well. As for whether I think Charizard's price will raise or lower, well, as it gets more and more scarce, the price will raise. People will buy it, then over the years, they'll forget about it, lose it... or some 6 year old will buy it, and might almost wreck it, lowers the price quite a bit. So I think it'll raise.
