I used Honchsol deciding at 11:30 PM the night before.


We did 5 rounds with a top 4 cut

Round 1:??? w/ Water deck
I have an awful hand but my opponent is trying to come back to the game. I startted with absol and him a piplup. I get rid of his hand and start to raid. when he has 20 on him I bench absol retreat raid for the KO. He gets up a weavile starts to use chip off and he discards 1 (holon Mentor) =(. Eventually I get out a honchkrow and a Murkrow and he doesn't have any energy left.

Round 2:??? w/ Power Keepers Theme deck
I get a T2 Honchkrow vs. 6 basics.

We go to lunch and the Judge (Shadowcard on the 'gym) says he wants to play me and beat me. Just like overtime in '04 Football (Packers vs. Seahawks) I win.

Round 3: Josh W. w/ Turbo Blissey
I have 3 Honchkrow prized GG.

I now have to win out to have a chance so I get paired up.

Round 4: Nate B. (ghetto overlord) w/ Lucario/Bannette
He starts with shuppet and ascends and I use raid to stop the T2 KO. To make a long story short we get down to 1-1 on prizes and I pull a dark FTW.

Round 5: ??? w/ water.dec
His hand was bad and absol made it worse. He uses Oak's Research and draws 3 Rare Candy and 2 Holon's Castform.

Game 1: I don't remeber this game much except that it came down to 1-1 on prizes and he uses Bannette to get a double KO.

Sudden Death Game 1: He says he did that because he can KO me faster. I get a T2 ko with murkrow FTW.

Game 2: I have 2 Honchkrow prized and 2 Murkrow prized after he takes 3 prizes I give him the match.

Game 3: We have 40 min. left so I am not worried about time. I opt to go first attach and pass he passes I attach and attack GG

So I watch as Blissey prevailed and I faced it in top 2 (which got moved to starbucks due to store closing)

Top 2: Josh W. w/ Turbo Blissey
Game 1: I discard a celio and boost on my first turn. he quick balls for a blissey and passes. I discard a copycat and Blissey next. After a while I take it.

Game 2: I have absolute trash.

Game 3: He prized a blissey and I discard 1 and ko 2 more FTW

What did he do? I might be missing something, but you can't KO yourself with Ghosthead, if that's what you mean.

Anyway, congratulations! I wish I had been able to make it.

Banette can place damage up to its remaining HP. An untouched Banette can put 8 dmg on itself (knocking itself out) and put 8 dmg on the defending poke. Double knockouts are quite possible in this scenario.

My question for Johnny (since I wasn't at the table at the time) Did either of you have any additional win states?? I assume you both had cards in your deck, but did anyone have a benched pokemon?? Did both of you??? You might want to edit in some more details here to allow your readers to verify that a sudden death 1 prize game was appropriate here.

Actually, doesn't Banette have a clause that says you can't reduce Banette`s HP to 0?

No, it's actually "You can't put more than Banette's remaining HP" referring to the number of dmg counters. You CAN place exactly enough to take Banette to 0. Search the attack in ATM folks, it's there!! :thumb:

I'd really have liked to actually watch the top 4, but alas, spec's aren't allowed. Nice work with the late night swap, maybe I should try that sometime.

I'm just annoyed that my deck shot the wad 3 times in a row.

It only fails me once in a blue moon, but that was 3....

Yes, you can. The attack just says that you can't more more than whatever's left. You can go equal to the remaining (which is to say that you can kill yourself), but you can't go over. That clause is just there so some kid doesn't put a million damage counters on Banette and kill the opponent's Wailord that way.

He and I both had a bench and a good 20 or so cards left in our deck.

Nice job, Johnny! I still hurt from that loss against your Rhyperior, haha. I had no idea I could discard those Double Rainbow Energy's with Typhlosion! I hope to make the trip down to Midlo for the Great Encounters prerelease, so I'll see you there if you go. I'm addicted to these tournaments now!

I don't know if I'll be there. It depends on how I feel (my wisdom teeth are coming out 2 days before)
 
lol your wisdom teeth are getting pulled. i had my pulled a few years ago, and boy does it hurt. but its okay, as you'll be too drugged up on meds to even notice. Though your cheecks are gonna puff up like crazy. have fun looking like a chipmunk for the new couple weeks.
 
^ thanks mike, I had 2 of mine already pulled a few years back (stupid dentist) so now I have to get the other 2 out.
