Hi all,

Ahem....

As you are aware, for the last few months there has been rumours, etc about who is running op in the UK, is there OP in the UK and what is going on and who is Venomex?!?!

Ok first things first, my name is Chris Sparks and I am Operations Manager for D & A Games. As a bit of background, we have been around the games industry for the last 12 years, with our role shifting from table top gaming to TCG's and RPG's for the last few years. We work very closely with some of the largest stores in the UK and TCG Companies (We run the Demo Teams for Upper Deck Entertainment, as well as some of their grass root programs, events like the Summer Cup finals, among other things.) We have staff, on the TCG side of around 10 staff, based across the south, but we are primarily based out of Poole in Dorset. We are currently dealing with OP for Pokémon in the UK.

So on to the plans:

Leagues:
"First Priority should be leagues, then leagues, finally leagues....."
I am aware of the frustration by TO's in regards to this and this has been our number one priority to sort.
Taking this forward, we will issue, over the next two weeks, new season league kits to existing leagues and new leagues.
I am aware that League kit materials are owed; these will be sorted and shipped at the same time.
League kit orders should be made via us as [email protected]

City Championships.
20 City Championships have been arranged for the UK. I am aware of the issues regarding prize support for the first of these events, however problem has now been rectified and all City Champ kits should ship as planned. These will be shipped by Esdevium Games over the next few weeks.
A full list of City Championships will be listed shortly.

Regional Finals:

There will be 4 regional finals; the details of these will be confirmed shortly.

Please be aware there will be a crossover with City Championships Season due to time scales.

Pre Release Events:

This, again, is being arranged at the moment, however it has been confirmed we do have these events for February. Emails will be sent out regarding these events shortly.

Pokémon National Finals:

The National Finals for the UK will be held on 24th May 2008 at the Victoria Thistle Hotel, London.

Full details will be posted up, alongside the full qualifier list at the end of April.

Also requests for judges, etc will be accepted shortly!

Alongside these events we have several other projects which will become apparent over the next few months. (Mall tours, store releases, a SECOND national event, Demo Team....)

Finally, a big THANK YOU to all the existing TO's/Profs in the UK who have worked tirelessly to keep the game alive during OP's hiatus and without who we would not have any OP in the UK....and I am looking forward to working with you all in the future.

Thanks

Chris

woo, the beans have been spilled at last. Great to hear what is happening, and a GREAT place for nationals!!!!

You got one judge already for nationals :p and i'll be more then happy to help in mall tours.

Very interesting, looks like alot of good decisions are being made, especially the more accessible change in location for nationals. I really like the attitude you've applied to sorting things out, and can only hope what has been said reflects what will actually happen.

Props.

Great stuff,

Glad to get all that out in the open looking forward to getting some leagues and pre releases up and running!

Chris

Regionals is our version of states.

Or rather what we have continued to call regionals are in fact States, Territories or Provinces..

London Regionals/States will be brought to you by the normal team and we have already talked with Chris about provisional dates - watch the skys and the gym more as we have it

Also, watch sky one the day after for tournament highlights.

MMmmmm 2007 quoted Chris may have got the wrong diary out or used the clock/calendar on his PC without changing the year - Saturday would seem more appropriate..

no way, sunday is the best day. saturday is the day to get out and have a life, then sunday i can sit in and play cards. seems good to me.

Sunday : that would be the day when the trains turn into buses. I used to travel on a Sunday by rail and not suffer big delays. Used to. Many years ago that is. I don't use the 'trains' on a Sunday anymore.

Sunday would not be a good day to travel into London - especially for players with some distance to cover - Saturday does give players a chance to travel on the Friday evening stay overnight Friday and Saturday and travel back on the Sunday - BUSES permitting

24th May is the Date for the Nationals!! I have adjusted the date above, sorry for the confusion!

Also more details on the Second National event will be released end of Feb....
