PHIONE, RARE CANDY and STAGE 1 POKEMON
With the possibility of Phione coming to a Pokemon Pack near you, I was pondering the odds of players going to a 4 Basic, 3 Stage 1 and 4 Stage 2 lines. Most Players right now use the 4-2-4 method and 4 Rare Candy to substitute for the missing Stage 1, but with Phione, will Players take into count the use of Rare Candy on the Stage 1 just use Phione to Evo to the Stage 2?
When Rock-Lock was around (see Deck Forums, Archetypes) many people took the Rare Candy down to 2-3 and went with more Stage 1 do to HL Jirachi. I see this as being a possible tactic with Phione when we actually get the Fossils, but with States right around the corner and the speculation that we won’t see the fossils in this set, will some people try to create a Speed T2 deck with Stage 2 Pokemon and Phione?
Some Players will use the 4 Celio’s and 2 Bebe’s idea to increase those odds of getting that quick Evo from Phione, but is it really going to be that necessary to play 6 Search cards when Phione sets it up for you?
Personally, I like the idea of this method of Pokemon Combos:
4 Phione for evolution and thinning
2-1-2 Togekiss for Energy Setup and thinning
4-2-4 of your favorite Stage 2!
17 Pokemon is about normal for most builds on Stage 2 Decks, but Phione Paired with Togekiss just adds that Deck thinning possibility that some are looking for!
Well, needless to say, this next set is going to shake up the format and create new Metagames or everyone! The Return of Blaziken Firestarter coupled with the possibility of DP4 Blaziken for massive damage looks promising! NTM so many other cards!! Weavile will get some added Play to allow for more Free Retreating with an interesting new Stadium, which might increase Breloom’s Tech Ability in some decks!
Phione definitely will help setup decks and Absol might lose a little of its luster since S2 will have a nice way of getting out without needing the Trainers as much!
I Look forward to the Chaos and new deckbuilding ideas!!!:thumb:
