i was wondering if there are a lot of dark versions or evil versions of pokemon in the tcg? i'm still pretty new to the game, but i think i've seen dark raichu and some others. i know that yugioh does really cool and powerful bad versions of good monsters and was wondering if pokemon does the same thing. i would love to get an EVIL jigglypuff that was all powerful or something. these dark monsters totally make yugioh awesome and does anyone know if pokemon does things like this or plans to?

When they translated the cards, they used the term "Dark" instead of "Evil".
Think of "Dark Phoenix", if you are a comics fan.
Using "Evil" would cause too many problems with those that think the game is "evil" to start with!

Anyway, there have been a few sets that used Dark Pokemon, the most recent was Team Rocket Returns.
That was about 3 years ago.
But no Dark Pokemon have appeared since then (aside from a boxtopper in one set shortly after that).

No one knows if they have plans to bring them back.
They might. You never know.

Ugh, Beaten by Pop :D

They did this for a couple sets back in the day of WOTC (Team Rocket, and one Neo set IIRC), and they had another set (TRR) a few years ago, with dark pokemon in them.

Right now there aren't any plans to release any sets like that, but I could see that happening pretty soon with Team Galactics or Team Rocket Returns Again.

I miss Dark and Light Pokemon, those were all funny. Miracle Energy also worked wonders with Light Pokemon...

evil is pretty much = to using the word "kill" in pokemon, drives the mothers nutts

the word kill is not allowed at my league, i remind all of the to say "knock out"

danny

Pokemon may not be "killed" but they can die. Like the Pokedex discription for Cubone in D/P. It says:

When it thinks of its dead mother, it cries. Its crying makes the
skull it wears rattle hollowly.

There are other hints about Pokemon dieing in the games too. The Cubone one is one of the most obvius though.

A Pokemon cannot be killed, Frylock. It was murdered...by someone who is jealous of Ash's ability to catch. Jealousy is the motivation. Wake the Meatwad.

So if you stab them with a knife, they will just pull the knife out and still survive?

Some of them. Deoxys can regenarate lost lims, so yes. Also in one of the recent Pokemon manga in Japan, Deoxys got stabed through it's chest with Mewtwo's spoon. There was even quite a bit of blood.

Well, there's been:
Team Rocket
Neo: Destiny
Team Rocket Returns

Seems to me that once they release all of a new generation as "normal" pokemon, they release one of these "Dark" sets. idk if they'll do this for D&P, but that's been the pattern.

thanks for the great info every1. i'll keep an eye out for those evil tcg cards by team rocket, i'll head to store and pick some up. maybe i can pull a dark raichu too hopefully when they're evil they get more powerful like in yugioh. i like that even though the dark side is more powerful, if youre good you can overcome it. like star wars
i also just heard that there's new dark horus and armed dragon coming up in the new yugioh phantom darkness set, if anyone else plays yugioh too. the sneak preview is the this saturday and sunday if anyone is planning on going to san diego, let me know!

One of the things that I have noticed with Dark Pokemon is that they balance their stronger attacks with lower Hit Points.

So are what we refer to as "Light" from Neo4 originally "good" instead?

i got in trouble for telling some kid i murdered his banette pk last season.

It's a ghost, it's already dead lol. Incidentally, I use a computer program to calculate the effect of draw cards, master ball etc. I wrote called "Magic Umbreon's Repeat Draw Equation Routine". So I'm allowed to M.U.R.D.E.R. pokémon. And I do.

That was quite a while back. TRR had 120HP Dark Dragonite, Dark Ampharos, and Dark Tyranitar(s). Everything else's HP seemed pretty normal as well. They also had pretty normal attack power too (barring Special Darks). The main advantages that Dark Pokemon had were the ability to be Rocket Ball'ed for and abuse Special Darks.

The old Dark pokemon really weren't that good at all. I think Dark Vileplume was the best, but even then I think it only had 70 hp. And back then there were no D energy so they had to compensate for their low HP with higher attack.
