Unown F (GE) and Mr. Mime (MT) the new “Rock Paper Scissors Nightmare”

Yes Pokegym you read it right Unown F (GE) and Mr. Mime (MT) is the new “Rock Paper Scissors Nightmare”, let me explan.

We all know that there was a big buzz on Team Galtic Wager and Rock Paper Sissors (RPS). All we heard were things like “he/she might throw after me”, “can we use dice to determine the winner”, “I refuse to play Rock Paper Sissors with out a judge present”, etc, you get the picture, lots of sour grapes over one silly element in a GAME. Anyways it was ruled that RPS is a game of skill, dice can’t be used and that cards are an acceptable subsitute for hand motion, problem solved.

Let’s take a look at Unown F and Mr. Mime. Both require a coin to be placed next to your active pokemon and be covered. Your oppoent is then required to guess if the coin is heads or tails. With Unown F, if your oppoant guesses wrong you get to draw a card. With Mr. Mime if your oppoent guesses wrong their active Pokemon takes 50 damage however if you guesses right Mr. Mime does 20 damage to itself.

Now you might be saying to yourself… THE FT. LAUD. LOUD MOUTH is making this post, he is known for: spaming, bashing people and ADVERTISING FOR WEBSITES THAT ARE IN HIS SIGNATURE; he is talking about problems with placing a coin next to your active pokemon, this is spam, he is going to get infraction points for this thread. Trust me Pokegym that is my intent… for this post atleast. Nightmere appoching… keep reading

These are the scenarios that can occur with coin placing.

  • Your oppoent has the coin on its side but his/her hand is not flat on it, his/her fingers are holding it up, redey to put the coin flat so it is in his/her favor.
  • Does the same have what is above but with a dice instend.
  • It is very hot at the venue you are playing at; your oppoents hands are very sweaty. Your oppoent puts his/her hand flat on the table with a coin underneath. You declare what you are calling and he/she lifts his/her hand to show the choice. The coin sticks to his/her hand is raised off the table and falls, you are unsure of what was the acutal choice of your oppoent. Your oppoent will say the coin that he/she had on the table was the opposite of what you said the coin was.
  • Your oppoent uses a dice, he/she rolls it and as it rolls he/she blocks what it lands on from your line of sight, you guess, w/e the effect of the attack/power happens or doesn’t happen. The problem here is your opptant is taking the skill out of guessing whither the coin/dice is heads or tails. Yes like RPS, guessing a coin takes skill.
Now anyone have any idea on how these pontental problems can be solved? Have a judge watch when one of these cards is being used? Use HEADS AND TAILS CARDS!?!?!

It’s a nightmare, isn’t it!

-Discuss how these two cards will effect the game.

It doesn't say "you can roll/flip the coin you place".

Placing a coin and having a person guessing what it is, is just like RPS, IT TAKES SKILL!

It takes skill like randomly picking a card?:lol:
I can just drop the die/coin on the table, and cover it up before it settles. I "placed" the "coin" on the table, and covered it.

Write "heads" on an energy card.
Write "tails" on another energy card.

Place one of them, depending on your choice, next to your pokemon. Flip over after your opponent has guessed your decision.

Problem, very easily, solved.

What if the player who is placing a coin doesn't want to use cards, what if they want to play the cards like it is supose to be played. It is like RPS, as a player you can't force your oppoent to use the cards, a judge can though.

So is the decision of the side of the coin "skill" like in RPS making randomization rule-breaking or can you just roll a dice in a shaker. Ie. use the shaker and put it down so that the dice is still inside the shaker but neither player has any idea what it is, then after your opponent has called heads or tails pick the shaker up and whatever side the dice is facing upwards is the side you "chose".

I am not 100% what you are trying to say. Are you asking a question or making a comment? Can you word w/e you are trying to say better.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

...Then let them play the card as written?

People might cheat, read what I have in bullets.

Read them. If the coin/die sticks, you read the opposite side WHILE IT IS STILL STUCK, and know whether your guess was right. If the die partially sticks, it will either stay on, or drop down as soon as the hand is lifted up. If the uses lifts their hand rapidly, the die/coin will go flying, and the judge will have to make a decision on any penalties. If they raise it slowly, one of the two scenarios described above will occur. Play the card as written, the only people who will play either probably won't even have thought of those.

I agree with this thread. There are a number of way that someone can keenly deciet the opponent and get their desired result. However, these cards are seldomly played anyway and I dont think anyone could be that greedy.

Maybe WE should have done hand motions... *thinks about game that came down to wager* :nonono:

See, with TGW this is actually a problem because people actually play it.
Nobody's going to play Mr. Mime or Unown F, so we really don't have to worry about this.

Once again, any card effect can be abused. This will always happen because there are people out there who will attempt to do this.

Use The Cards!
It does matter if you are the one playing the power or not, you still can use the cards.

If you are playing the power, place the card on the field and have the opponent pick their decision and then flip your card.

If you are the one that makes the decision, place your card (heads/tails) then have the player playing the power reveal the coin and then you flip your heads/tails card. If you place the card on the field it doesn't matter which side shows first. So if you think your player is shifty, have them reveal first.

The cards for heads/tails will work for the player that wants to play them whether they are the power player or guesser.

I don't think it will be a big problem as the principles behind playing TGW have been thoroughly thrashed out. Its not so hard to extend these same ideas to hiding a coin.

That said I won't be at all happy if I see lots of sticky hands lifting the coin off the table during the reveal.
