I was bored and found this article of an actual event that just recently took place.

Im really shocked that a 10 year old robbed a younger kid for pokemon cards. Not just that but this kid used a Pellet Gun. For all you parents out there make sure this doesnt happen to your kids who bring their cards to school. Just looking out for the children who play pokemon and their parents. Thoughts?
 
Pokemon Trading Cards were banned from a lot of school back in 1999-2001.
Anyway that child has a sick mind doing something that drastic at that age.
We don't need another Columbine High School.
 
Kinda makes me wonder what this young person's parents are doing while their child is learning and partaking in such drastic behaviors. Sad.:nonono:
 
imo, the issue isn't pokemon at all, but the lengths some kids will go to, in order to get whatever they 'want' at the time. boundaries, consequences, delayed gratification anyone? or is it really okay to do whatever it takes to get 'hot item of the day' NOW without working/earning/saving for it just because 'i WANT it NAO!!1!' =/

It's totally Pokemon USA's fault. It's an evil game learning young kids how to work for satan.
That's why you should collect these COOL cards featuring religious stuff!
 
Such things happening at not really a new occurance :/ Theft and crime involving any hot product ranging from Pokemon cards to Tickle Me Elmo, and the Playstation 3 are common. The most important thing is that you can keep your children close, and you take responsibility. I wouldn't let my children take a handheld video game system, or any collectable to school with him/her. However, I wouldn't mind my child taking a pack of Uno cards simply because it's a fun but non-desired item for theft.

I hope you're joking because the whole "Pokemon is the devil" thing is about a decade old -_-; Human beings are terribly selfish, look at the Crusades...fighting over the Holy land as if it was Pokemon card.

I hope you're joking because the whole "Pokemon is the devil" thing is about a decade old -_-; Human beings are terribly selfish, look at the Crusades...fighting over the Holy land as if it was Pokemon card.

You see adults setting these kind of examples all the time. This young person's parents/guardians are probably the same people you hear about on the Friday after Thanksgiving at the stores fighting over the latest electronics or appliances or toys for their kids. Terrible thing that our society has everything to do with what you have and nothing to do with morals.

*shrugs* if you can't see the difference between a thread applauding just how 'gangsta' and awesome what this kid did was and an actual discussion of the problems illustrated in the news story...=/

we're not going to celebrate crime on the 'gym: period, end of sentence. take that however you will, 'conspiracy' or whatever...

For the record, three staff discussed the topic before deleting it.
It wasn't the "what", it was the "how".

As a parent of children these ages, the other thread made my stomach turn. This story just breaks my heart for those poor kids involved and terrifies as a Mom as to the safety of my boys. Having people applaud and praise this theft even in jest is not right.
 
All children experiment with lying and stealing. But they grow out of it. The most terrifying aspect of that brief report for me was that the school is considering expulsion. The 6 year old wont feel safe because all 10 year olds will be percieved as a potential threat. The 10 year old will feel victimised by 'the system' and will not have to confront his behaviour. Society has to be able to deal with the behaviour of its children both good and bad.
 
Yes, children experiment with lying and stealing but NOT by pointing a gun at someone's head! I agree that I was dumbfounded by the 'school is considering expulsion' statement. No ifs, ands or buts expulsion and counseling are needed.
