Still don't understand

I still don't understand why all these people have decks with two main pokemon and they can even be two different types, but swampert and empoleon can't work. That just seems lame. I mean if magneton, bastidon, bronzong, empoleon and others can work together, why can't swampert and empoleon? And before you say it's because they're two slow, I've seen plenty of different stage 2 pokemon pulling it off.

well build it and playtest it against the top tier decks of this format and u make the call whither it will work or not...
I actually find this idea cool and would do really well against Mag (lol) and maybe aginst GG

What's a top tier deck? Also I don't want to go through the trouble if it doesn't even play well.

:Edit:

Oh because a couple people were saying that it is too slow and won't play well.

Stage two decks only work if they have a solid setup strategy, late game plan, and proper synergy. They shouldn't rely on to many topdecks. Mario is a good example of a bad deck like this.

So what if the main Pokemon are different types. Just because a deck plays Claydol doesn't mean you have to attack with it.

Erm... no they can't. Brozong is a really bad card, and the same for Bastiodon. Magneton only works as a backup in some deck called Hurricane. And Empoleon isn't anywhere as good as it was last year.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

What's a top tier deck?
A successful major deck like Fire TRUK (the deck I've battled you with) and Gallade/Gardevoir are considered top tier decks these days. The only reason I was able to defeat your water deck with fire is because my Pokemon had a solid bond in their abilities. Gallade/Gardevoir work as slightly different types because there is an excellent connection between them.

So what you mean is that swampert and empoleon don't really work together or do anything for each other. Thus have no purpose being together and that is why the deck wouldn't work right?

^Yes, that is synergy if they have something in common. Fire TRUK has a great setup engine with Catty and Typhlosion because you Energy Draw to get 3 then Firestarter the Energy. :thumb:

So it would just be better if swampert stay solo? As for empoleon.... For some reason is very popular with palkia lv. x. Though I thought of that before I started to see them here lol.

Yes, with maybe a backup line. (IDK what). Empoleon is good with Palkia X because it helps you snipe the stuff you want while bringing out their Pokemon with high retreat

My backup is swampert on top of swampert (in a sense that 3 suffice with any master swampert deck these days). Though maybe with time swampert decks can become tier. BTW Mew* we came close and I would have won if I had bebe's search instead of celios. Just saying, but I understand what you meant because the magmortar and typhlosion were in perfect sync.

You don't have to have synergy in a deck for it to win. It just helps and makes the wins more probable.

By all means build an Empoleon + Swampert deck. You'd get credit from me and many others for making the best Empoleon +Swampert possible. Not only that you'd learn lots about how decks work so give it a go. You'l probably learn more about deck building by trying to make Empoleon and Swampert function in a 60 card deck than by copying a standard list.

Also the reason Swampert and empoleon don't work together is because it's very slow because you have to set up 2 stage 2s and the 2 have nothing to set themselfs up with. GaG is good because techically it's not 2 stage 2s because they have the same basic and stage 1 pokemon and also gardevoir sets the deck up.

I understand and you guys wouldn't believe this..... I have done a swampert + empoleon deck before:biggrin:. The problem was exactly what you guys are telling me know that it didn't work and it was too slow. I presented it here before and people fixed it as best as they could. And you know that if you get the Pokegym hook up and it doesn't work, then something's wrong. So I guess I'll abandon it and just have them go on there different ways. I'll use the swampert for leagues against the idiots who don't have a strategy and the empoleon for tournaments.

there are a few good empoleon decks in the forum so be sure to check them out. also, you can add lucario to it and it gives it alot more options.

Thanks, but I think if there are no water buddies for swampert, then I'll just stick solo with him. Atleast I'll be the only one at my league with a strategy. I finally knocked out that magneton, bastidon, bronzong, empoleon deck my friend made with the new swampert deck I've been working with here on the forum for the past week. Now I have to get through his fighting deck with the dark tyranitar from DP. Thanks everyone.

.

Mario had no synergy and still worked. like Blissey and Delcatty,i mean how synergy is in that deck, very little or even Banette/Blissey??pretty much none and it it worked.

Ok no offense to everyone who says it can work, but I'm tired of going back and forth. So if the majority says that it wouldn't work, I'm just going to go with that.

Don't take people's word for things. Try things. You'll never know if they work otherwise. Even if they don't work, it's a good learning experience. That's what it's about. Opening your mind. Getting better.

Justin T : don't worry about what others think. Make it work as best you can and show the doubters that even if they aren't wrong they aren't right either.

Yeah... but they could be right...

But, yeah, if you want to build it, go for it! But, I don't think it could work...
