The Fishing Engine GE Style

The original Fishing Engine was nice, but here is a new vamped up edition of GE styling! (Mods, please lock the other Fishing Engine Thread, Link is above!)

The Fishing Engine GE Style

Well with the introduction of GE, the Fishing Engine just gets better! Claydol just makes things more consistent and allows fro extensive drawing power! Here is the current list I have been working with:

Stage 1 Standard Fishing Engine Base:

Pokemon 14-16

2 Baltoy
2 Claydol

Trainers 29

3 Steven's Advice
2 Team Galactic's Wager
4 Pokedex
3 Pokenav
3 Master Ball (Bebe’s Optional)
3 Dusk Ball (Bebe’s Optional)
4 Great Ball
3 Windstorm
2 Switch/Warp Point
2 Night Maintenance

Energy 14-16

With this new form of GE engine, things get a whole lot faster. You might wonder at first glance as to why there is Claydol with Steven's. Well, with most of the cards being straight trainers, you can abuse both. Start with Claydol loading you up, if you get a Steven's, burn some of the trainers and then reload again. More than likely you will have 2 Claydol down, so this won’t be that difficult! Wager is just asking to be placed in here. Disruption and the chance of you loading are essential! Imagine Winning the RPS and you play a discarding attacker, ouch! You could also opt for the Master and Dusk Balls to be Bebe’s as this helps get something out of your hand to reload even more. SO there is the GE form that I have been messing with on Apprentice. It works for Stage 1 decks and Stage 2 Decks! Stage 2 decks might have to adjust to this style list:

Stage 2 Standard Fishing Engine Base:

Pokemon 14-16

2 Baltoy
2 Claydol

Trainers 29

2 Steven's Advice
2 Team Galactic's Wager
3 Rare Candy
3 Pokedex
3 Pokenav
2 Master Ball (Bebe’s Optional)
3 Dusk Ball (Bebe’s Optional)
4 Great Ball
3 Windstorm
2 Switch/Warp Point
2 Night Maintenance

Energy 14-16

Using this list allows for fast setup of a solo S2 and Claydol. Dusk Ball IMHO just loves Claydol and that is why Master Ball went down and not Dusk Ball! There is room for 3 Candy (4 if you opt to lower energy count attackers) which can speed things up a bit as well!

So that is the Newer Fishing Engine! As always, it can be easily adjusted to your play style and manipulated with Quick Ball or even Premier Ball! Enjoy it and thanks for reading!

The only problem I see with this is that once you play a TGW against a G&G, they are going to abuse that for the whole battle. It goes like this, you play a TGW attack and end your turn. The G&G player can use you TGW depending on who won or if they don't like their hand, then they Psychic Lock you and you are in some serious trouble.

Only cause you posted to a post I posted to earlier.

My 2 cents worth on how I like to run my fishing engine, the cats out of the bag!

Stage 1 Standard Fishing Engine Base:

Pokemon 14-16

3 Baltoy
3 Claydol

Trainers 29

4 steven advice
4 oaks visit
1 castaway
4 Pokedex
4 Quickball
2 celio
2 Great Ball
3 Windstorm
2 Switch/Warp Point
1 Night Maintenance
2 tools options

Energy 14-16

Stevens just combos to well with Claydol, yes TGW is the other side to that if you want disruption instead of speed. The rest is compariable to your list, it is just a play preference.

you are the creator of the original fishing engine??, the engine help me too much in my golduck - xatu deck, thanks for your idea. I has a seriously problem with my engine in stage 1 pkmn b.efore fishing engine.

Thanks for your post in my last thread. I see that you love claydol style same as me.

For some reason, using Claydol + Prof. Birch just seems a bit redundant considering they do almost the same thing...

3-3 Claydol also seems slightly excessive, 2-2 usually works fine for me. I'd also throw in some Celio's for a definite way of searching out a needed Pokemon evolution, in the event Dusk Ball, Quick Ball, or Master Ball fail to search it out.

I see that point so opted for Rowan. I see Rowan in 2 ways:
1.) It reduces your hand and can get things shuffled that you might have put o nthe bottom earlier that now you need.
2.) Can disrupt somewhat as some players like having that huge hand of options.

However, TGW is nice for disruption and against non gardy decks can be very critical!
Thanks for the reply!

Fine, I tried Steven's and your right. It does work a lot better than Birch. I was attempting to lessen my hand size against Copycats that many are tossing in now and against Pcychic Balance style attacks as many of them are coming out in different forms! I still like mine Better:tongue::wink:

Glad you enjoyed it and it worked for you. As I said, I don't want ot take credit for "Creating" it as I am sure others were using similar style engines. I just made it Public! GL on future Tournaments!:thumb:

The 3-3 is to ensure a Fast Claydol and it is amazing how much more consistent it is on getting 2 out. This also gives oyu the chance of placing the third one on the bottom for future usage! Whereas Celio's seems like a great option, Bebe's actually works better with Claydol IMHO. It gets 1 more card out of your hand to draw and allows the chance of deck size to remain even. or to put something back you don't need right now. The ideal situation is 3 Dusk Ball and 3 Bebe's since Claydol places things on the bottom!

Thanks for the ideas and input... it is nice to have a civil and honest conversation going!

GL to everyone this weekend!!

2-2 is fine I think cuz late game claydol will be dead draw and a waste of bench space.

Professor Rowan?? I like birch better cuz either way you still keep your hand and that one card u wanted but u draw from the deck no shuffle.

2-2 Claydol

3 Great Ball
2 Master Ball
2 Dusk Ball
3 Quick Ball
3 Pokenav
3 Pokedex
2 Professor Birch

works fine in decks I play and people play their other trainers. Thats just my opinion tho.

Actually as i've been running Dusk balls myself i find taht i dislike them with Claydol, as i seam to put junk on the bottom of my deck pushing the good cards further away with the claydol so i can't get them with the Duskball, but thats my 2 cents

Big Fish,

I don't know how much this helps the deck thinning purpose of the deck, but would 4 Victory Medal ("Gold"fishing ) be worth considering?

On one hand, I see a plan like this being counterproductive. If you go by law of averages, you'll hit two tails once...Meaning you play four cards just to draw three, for a net loss of .25 cards.

...On the other hand, law of averages gives you two heads once per game; a free search. At the right time, that can be critical!

Thoughts? IMO my idea may be nothing more than bling, but eh.

Plus, Ebay is a painful path to take. VM's are more collectible than TSD's.

VM's have been tossed around nad the idea is a good one, but the issue is getting the 4 needed for the deck. Whereas Demetre tends to do well at Cities, not 1 BR win yet.. and with me Judging and when i do play a certain Kettlero Bro. tends to make things rather difficult, this has eluded the Fish clan!

and this engine dies once Kabutops MD is released.

BTW who named the fishing engine. such a bad name.

My Last Name is Fish and some other players mentioned that the list of Trainers create a fishing style as there is no guarantee as to what will come up with the Quick/ Master/ Dusk Balls or the PokeDex/Navs so you are fishing for the right card. And frankly I think FISH is a Great NAME!!

Must be looking in a Mirror! Now that is funny right thar... I don't care who you are!
