I'm not amazing at this game but I thought I actually made a decent deck for once. I decided to post it here. I'm really only putting it up here because its something different for a change.

So I was looking through translations of GE one day and I was like “ Wow, Sloking’s power is nasty but it sucks that it only activates after you get killed. If only there was something that could take advantage of falling behind on prizes. Oh wait….Scramble.” And obviously Magmortar is a beast with Scramble. There was also Premier Ball that stood out from the translations and since Mag X is sick too I of course added in a bunch of Premier Balls. List ended up looking like this in literally like 3 minutes lol. Didn’t change a thing after that.

Pokemon: 17

4 Sentret
2 Furret
3 Magmar
3 Magmortar
1 Magmortar Lv X
2 Slopoke
2 Slowking

Trainer: 26

4 Celios Network
3 Night Maitenence
3 Premeir Ball
3 Warp Point
3 Roseannes Research
2 Stevens
2 Galactics
1 Coyp Cat
2 TVR
3 Battle Frontier

Energy: 17

4 Scramble
2 DRE
11 Fire

Basic Strat: Infinite Magmortar LV X Swarm

Detailed:

Everything is pretty self explanatory. Furret sets up while acting as Scramble Bait. Sloking gets whatever you weren’t able to grab off of Keen Eye ( ie: the only way to search out Scramble/ Premier Ball in the format without using an attack. ). 3 Night Maitenence so that you keep a constant flow of Mags coming. Battle Frontier because we needed a way to counter Crystal Beach if it ever came up plus it stops all the Delcatty variants of Magmortar/Gatr ( which could probably beat this if we didn’t have them ) as well as random Togekiss we might see. It was awesome because nobody plays maxed Windstorm anymore. People have started replacing them with Warp Point to stop CC so we could always lock the BF.

Basically a battle will look like this.

Keen Eye whatever you need
Use Trump Card ( or two, which you’re able to set up a lot. DOUBLE QUICK SEARCH COMEON HOW COULD YOU NOT LIKE IT?!?!?!?!?) and get the Scramble/ Premo / whatever you’re missing.
Spread with Mag X while burning them.
Do it over and over the entire battle.

Matchups: ( These were based off battles of 10. Every list was a tournament winning one )

Gallade: 60-40

We only tested against the absol version. Furret and Sloking are basically anti- absol but just like every other deck you’ll lose if they get lucky discards. Psychic Lock does nothing against you since you don’t rely on powers and if they only wanna do 30-40 to Magmortar per turn with it it’s fine by me. Have fun 4 shotting it while we’re sniping your bench. Gallade also can’t consistently knock out Mag Xs. They can only flip over 4 prizes once. After that the game is yours. Plus, a Scrambled Sloking does 60 to them so its not a bad attacker either. Every turn after that it does 120.

It honestly comes down to if they get good discards with absol.

Magmortar / Typhlosion / Delcatty : 70-30

Easiest matchup. Battle Frontier stops Energy Draw while you abuse Trump Card. Magmortar LV X always beats regular Magmortar which leaves Typhlosion the only thing you really have to waste Flame Buster on. They’ll usually always attack first anyway because they aren’t just going to leave Pachirisu up to do nothing. If not, just warp point Furret out of the active and go to town.

Gatr – 70 – 30 ( We only tested against the Catty version. )

Also easy. They have weakness but it really doesn’t matter much. Use Galactics and Battle Frontier to lock them. It’s as simple as that really.

Flygon ex PK – 100 – 0 ( I actually got bored, proxied this, and tested it lol. SPARTA was making such a big deal about it and I just wanted to prove to myself that we could beat it. We beat it all 10 times with a better version of his list )

This deck got three 4-2 finishes. Only losses were to Empoleon, Gallade w/ Empoleon tech – I know, crazy, and regular Gallade. I also lost to my brother in Mirror.

You can read the Tourney reports here:

Adrian
Brandon

So anyway, bash the deck as much as you want but it works, and it works well.

great! i always think in a way to put Furret and magmortar together, nice combo man, im gona try it !

I like the strat on this one. Maggy is the beast, and might be just the card to get Slowking working well with.

I'm not sure about using TVR over Visit, as you don't really need to discard anything.

did you play at MA states because a bunch of out of towners spammed this deck, i lost to it because of a bad start but i don't think it did well at all

nice idea though

Extra Sentret/Furret or Battle Frontier you aren't using.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Yeah, we were at MA.

We all went 4-2 after losing to weird stuff haha. Whatever, it was fun.

Yea, we played it at MA states. It def. did well. We all went 4-2. 4 out of the 6 losses with the deck were all due to playing something water(Empoleon and Gyrados mostly, we beat both hurricanes we faced.) If Mass wasn't so much water, I guarantee we would have walked into the top 8.

Also the other 2 kids that were playing the deck were brothers playing each other, so it was hard for one to make it after they played each other. Tough breaks, but the deck did do well.

yeah it is a good deck no doubt about that

but yyou guys also didn't get paired with many good players so i wouldn't say water is the reason you lost, because if you would have faced the good gg decks it wouldn't have faired as well, con's list wouldn't go every turn without doing anything and neither would the frezzas

it does suck brothers had to play each other but so did the frezzas and they top cut

good job but it's not because our metagame is "who still plays that" that you didn't do well beleive me i felt the same way when i went 3-2 at NH states with banette losing to 2 darkrai decks and i made my share of excuses but i made learned from it and played a better deck

I'm not saying it was completely bad matchups, but it did have something to do with it. We didn't realize the metagame was so heavy Gyrados/Empoleon over there, or maybe we wouldn't have played the deck, who knows. My friend's brother actually did play a Frezza and lost I dont remember why. I've played Con Le's Nidoqueen/Gallade twice. I know how it works well, but it should still be a good matchup depending on who gets the better start. Trust me, we've tested this matchup extensively, and Gardy/Gallade is forced to attack earlier than you. While you're Keen Eyeing, they have to attack you eventually or else you just get setup. And once a Gallade flips over enough prizes to take out your Magmortar LV X, you can always get another one out. Even if they sonic blade you, you can just send up another furret to stall for a little bit while you remove the LV X's damage. Trust me, late game it gets hard to bare for the Gallade player. Not saying it's an auto-win it's about 60-40 like we said before, but whatever.

Yea, the Frezza's are great players. By not going to the previous tournament, we didn't get a great chance to analyze the metagame. If we did, I'm sure at least one of us would have run Banette. The overwhelming majority of decks there were Gardy/Gallade and there were absolutely no Magmortar. What would have happened if the Frezza's ended up playing Banette in previous rounds?

All in all it was a great tourney nonetheless. I enjoyed myself and had some great matches.

idk out of 60+ masters there were something like 7 or 8 gardy, that's why banette failed me at NH i didn't play any gardies, and i didn't at mass either my top cut match was against mag/kiss which would have dominated banette, i just think NE is a bad metagamse for banette, IMHO you would never be paired with a frezza if you played banette except maybe first round, both john and alex are usually undefeated, until they had to face each other, and i don't think banette would go undefeated here, well i know it wouldn't because i played it

yeah i just remembered that lisa played empoleon too, there is a lot of water and stuff but IDK banette doesn't help, it autoloses gyrados, and empoleon is just snipe shuppet , then 80 to aactive, so i don't think that's the answer

new england is weird though know what i mean, you guys def should have been to NH states because although banettes not the play i'm sure you guys would have done better, new englanders just mostly play original decks so it's hard to metagame,

we're all just such close friends that it's not a problem because we all know each others rogue decks and whatnot i have to admit new england tourneies are fun and that i've lost to more than one deck you'll never see on pokegym lol

My friend's brother actually did play a Frezza and lost I dont remember why.

He said Freeza had a god hand and got up Gardy/Gallade/Claydol by like T2. I don't think any deck can stand up to that.

I just didn't want to play Gallade. I'm tired of seeing Gallade mirror match every single round. That's why I went with something different.
