Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

If all the remaining t-legal EX sets were banned

The trainers...you know they take alot on the metagame - Scrambles, DREs, Celios, Great Balls...

Yeah, taking away the Scrambles and DREs would really mix things up. Delcatty is the only other popular card. Claydol could possibly cover for it. Other than that, I don't think it would have much of an impact. I mean, sure, cards like Cessation Crystal and Crystal Beach would be gone, but they're not widely played anyway, so not much of a big deal.

Decks that use different versions of the same Pokemon, such as Blaziken would be affected quite a bit. The trainers will be the biggest loss by far, with Celio's, Castaway, TV Reporter, Holon Mentor, Scott, Windstorm, Cessation Crystal, Great Ball, Master Ball, and a few stadiums going away. Some of those trainers have been replaced by newer cards, but others (Windstorm, most notably) are not. Finally the loss of Boost, DRE, and Scramble will definitely affect the pace and strategy of how the game is played right now.

OMG, you guys are forgetting about Blaziken!!! Although there aren't
a whole lot of decks that use cards from the EX series taking it out would
mean we lose a whole junk of Good Tainers and Pokemon. Crystal Beach,
Castaway, Celio, Meganium d, Delcatty, and Blaziken are just the tip of the
Iceberg.

it wouldnt be G&G saturated metas
Magmortar wouldnt have its amazing come back card.Scramble but still the BDIF tho
the format would be the same except some more decks could be top tier like sceptile.
Banette would suck really bad and wouldnt be played. which would hurt bad enough.

Eh, so it's just the trainers?

I was planning a deck using only D/P cards for some foresight after 08 Worlds, where they are most likely going to ban the 4 remaining ex series' after it, and I haven't seen any reprints of the big trainers, so there would be a big shakeup, yes?

Lapras GE= Castaway
Pro Oaks Visit/Felicity Drawing=Tv Reporter/Holon Adventer
Roseannes Research=Holon Mentor
Profs Rowan=Mini Copycat
No Scott Replacement
Glaceon Lv.X/Gardveior=Power Cessation Crystal
No Crystal Beach Replacement
No Battle Frontier Replacement
No Double Rainbow
No Scramble

u tell me how that would shake up the format.

Without any stage two deck being able to match Magmortar's two energy per turn with DRE, Magmortar would beat all else. This would "shake" the format from two awesome decks, to one awesome deck.

Not quite. Gatr becomes amazing if there's no GG and loses nothing it can't replace in the rotation. Mag can't get rid of its weakness, so Lake Boundary + Breaking Tail = OHKO, or 4 energy (not hard).

And besides, Mag relies on Delcatty and a Firestarter for that amazing energy accel. Switching over to Lunasol or Felicity's/TVR for your discard engine is clunky and reduces your CA.

Magmortar+Typho+CLAYDOL means magmortar still works.

and Ignatious,Gatr would be able to just run thro magmortar since no techs like FF or Toise d,Gatr could just do better, but Magmortar couldnt recover as easy since no scramble but would stilll beat Gatr probably just because Gatr has no cattys or magnetons, then it would be these decks

More Gatr,More Blissey again,Vire wouldnt be viable,Banette is dead,Gardy/Togekiss varients would be trie, Skittles would be even more playable.
Cities probably wouldve been more Blissey wins, maybe DWD wouldve seen more play or at least some wins,

I mean we will find out next season.I mean its hard to predict because we still have the remaining sets.

All those my opinions.

Garchomp takes most adventages from the rotation. It's one of the few decks that doesn't need DRE or Scramble, and most of the anti-techs against Garchomp rotate out.

Togekiss will be played more to provide energy acceleration, it can also be used with Magmortar, I saw this being played successfully in Senior Division at many states in Germany.

At all, I think there will be lots of decks with the new cards which don't need older energy or trainers. Azelf/Uxie/Mesprit may be good, as well as Kingdra to beat Magmortar.

I'd miss the pre DP cards.
They where so amazing, last year was the best format ever and what do we have now ? Overpowered, simple, boring decks that all rely on the same engine because theres nothing else available.

I guess Togekiss, Pachi and Claydol would see even more play.
Teching would be entirely dead.
Garchomp everywhere

at least you wouldn't need countergyms anymore because there are no gyms that you need to counter
I guess thats it...

*hugs his ralts d, his castform, his flygon d, his absol ex and his gex* :frown: I'll miss you t_t

The good thing is that when DRE and Scramble are gone out of the format, there won't be as many T2 pokemon anymore, which in the long run can be a good thing.
