The Science of Legendary Pokemon

I've been writing a Pokemon story, and I was thinking about how virtualy no Pokemon atributes, particularly those of the Legendaries, are explained. So this thread is to create info on the powers of legendary Pokemon and how those powers work. As my story is very... corect (meaning I don't glaze over explanations when needed, though I know it can't be anyehere near fully explained. Think of it as '_ can magicly manipulate this to do this' instead of '_ magicly does this'.), I made up loads of explanations. I'll post what I have (when I have time), and move really good ones up to my post. Note that all footnotes are all real scientific theories or information.

Giratina:
Giratina is made of antimatter*. When Giratina is in the reverse world, it exists normaly. If it changes over to the normal world, it becomes a state of energy, then becomes matter. It can reform into the local matter type.

Palkia: capable of manipulating protons and thus capable of manipulating matter, including but not limited to reshaping, decomposing, creating, and destroying gluton bonds** at will.

Arcues: capable of shapping massive ammounts of raw energy into matter, and the reverse. At the begining of time, the chaos it was born into was made of pure energy, thus giving it plenty of material to work off of.

*Antimatter is a special type of matter. Each particle has a partner of antimatter. When they meet, they turn into energy.
** Glutons are a massless sub-sub atomic particle that bind various sub-sub atomic particles together. (Includes protons).

Take it from someone who's very precise about these things: Legendaries are pretty much beyond science. Turning any kind of matter into energy is just... you're better off not even going there, because there's no way you're going to make anything more correct than the "a wizard did it" level Pokémon is at. Especially with this "Giratina can somehow turn itself into energy and then give itself mass again" thing of yours, which from a realism standpoint is horrendous and better off not existing at all. In any case, the damnable things ignore all of the conservation laws, and routinely break the laws of physics—merely by existing, in some circumstances. There's no fixing that. The best thing you can do for your story is just gloss over it and hope nobody notices.

Its just a story Marril, you don't have to go all Simon Cowell on him. Even though it is a bit beyond science, its just a story. I think you pretty creative, so keep it up.:thumb:

Hey, he's the one saying his stories are "corect[sic]" in the same breath he's giving me this mass->energy->mass nonsense.

Also you can convert mass into energy. It's just really, really hard to do so. A Pokémon with such an ability would be powerful enough to destroy anything it came across. Including itself.

energy cannot be created or destroyed, only changed.....

First law of thermodynamics.
Everything about antimatter in the ootnote is correct. Read Einstein's work on the exeption to the law of conservation of mass. (the E=mc squared thing). Energy can become mass, and mass can become energy. It's more like a different way to store it.

Everyone's taking this way too seriously...

When you go in saying "my work is more realistic," then you're demanding to be held to a higher standard. Quite frankly, you don't deliver to this standard, and the negative responses you're getting are indicative of this.

Note that you're talking to someone who's gone far, far farther than anything posted in this thread for sake of realism in fictional settings. Give me a bit of credit for knowing what I'm talking about here.

I'm not holding myself in higher regard. My story is much beter with the detail, because of the nature of a 'problem' of the main characters.

And did I say we could fully explain any of this? No! We are more explaining what would have to happen to create the effect.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

The whole point of it is to become energy. The part that is "magic" is how it stays energy in a controled state.

Giratina:
Giratina is made of antimatter*. When Giratina is in the reverse world, it exists normaly. If it changes over to the normal world, it explodes. Violently.
*Antimatter is a special type of matter. Each particle has a partner of antimatter. When they meet, they turn into energy.

Fixed.

I don't care if you think you're being all humble and so on. When you say that your work is "beter[sic] with the detail" and then pull the same old "it's just magic" BS that the thing you're claiming to be better than does, you've failed in your goal. You're still breaking the fundamental physical laws just as badly as the series itself does. The only difference between the two of you is that the official backstory doesn't attempt to explain it, while you offer explanations that don't have any basis in reality. Accept it.

EDIT: So I sic'ed the wrong place. Sue me.

Well, the obvious answer is that the world of Pokemon is like the Matrix, only much more PG-13 and if the robots decided an eternal anime nightmare was fitting to befall upon humanity.

Everyone gets off topic these days...

Giratina being anti-matter is a fun enough theory. Makes a bit of sense as well.

Arcues: capable of shapping massive ammounts of raw energy into matter, and the reverse. At the begining of time, the chaos he was born into was made of pure energy, thus giving him plenty of material to work off of.

I'm still thinking of one for Dialga, I will post it as soon as i think of one.

Trying to explain pokemon abilities scientifically is kind of like trying to explain scientific phenomena with Greek myths.

You mean we don't get fall and winter because Demeter is sad since her daughter is in the underworld for 6 months?
