What is happening to Pokémon OP in the UK?

:thumb: - Excellent communication between D&A games and players/TOs
:thumb: - Fantastic events in-store
:thumb: - Plans for 'special' things to exclusively happen in the UK and across Europe - shhhh!
:thumb: - Website presence imminent - with the potential for a forum and strategy articles as well as FAQs on events like Nationals and the first place to vist if you wish to look up future events to come.
:thumb: - Open Nationals for the first time in the UK
:thumb: - New leagues with full backing of OP
:thumb: - State Championships evenly distributed across the UK

Anyone who has any issues with missing prizes or problems with UK OP? Telephone Chris directly on 01276 780192

Great Britain! You've never had it so good! :thumb:

A futher plusle: Scholarship $$ for 1st and 2nd.

I'm neutral on the open nationals. Could be good, could be bad. A central london location for nats gets a minum from me: too expensive and not "special" enough. I sort of understand the reasoning for chosing London but it still isn't special.

[Freddy I've told you before who has your trophy : Adam A. No point in expecting Carl to do anything about it now as he has moved on to UpperDeck Europe in Amsterdam I believe. I hope you got an address or contact details for Adam A. Carl did eat Nicholas's 1st place trophy from states last year. ]

One thing that really annoys me (and many others) is the lack of communication from DNA games.

To name a few:

- Emails "dissappearing into cyberspace"
- Phone calls not answered
- Messages not returned

On several occasions I have managed to speak to someone, they didn't have the information to hand anyway. I was told "We'll get back to you on that". Suprise suprise, not a peep.

Not to mention the absolute ****-up with prize support on numerous occasions, which is quite frankly unacceptable.

Like with the era of The Place For Games; if DNA doesn't liase with TO's on a regular basis, OP in the UK isn't going to go very far. And to be fair, that in itself isn't too much to ask is it?

One of the main problems with TPFG, and very likely DNA games too, is that it is simply impossible to manage Pokemon OP correctly as well as a business and family. I'm not demeaning anyone here - its just simple fact.

BR Autumn last year went off smoothly enough, and I have a family. There was even a postal strike at the time. Everyone got their stuff before the events took place, including an instruction sheet and sample deck registration list. The events were flagged too.

*puts down own trumpet*

I have that

Iv'e sent him about 30 emails in the last few months called him 4 times and the website is no good. I know Carl Crook was bad. And his staff literally looked weird, but considering what a bad yr weve had with Chris..... First it was the identity problem with..."Ahem my name is Venomex and there are so and so tournements and everyone was like Who are u exactly??? Then the constant Nationals date change....... and i absolutely hate the location. I dread to think wats gonna happen next

Carl helped the game in the UK. Yes he made mistakes, but its down to the new management to build and grow from its predecessors
work. In previous years (without Carl), OP was a shambles, and he actually improved OP in areas that it had seriously struggled before.
So, enough of the 'roflCARLeatsTROPHY's', and remember some of the positives.

I for one got all of my Trophies/Medals, maybe he only gave out the 1st place stuff. =-)

LOL sami but yh u do actually have a valid point. The CC in Hich Whychombe was always slow but it went smoothly once it started

Points.....

1) Telephone - The main number is on divert to a mobile if not answered, either mine, Chris's or another member of staff. However we do not only deal with the Pokemon OP but with other contracts within and outside the TCG Community. There has been some issues of late with Chris, who is you main contact, being away (on holiday as well, then comming back to a flooded office finally having a very close family member die....) which in all honesty I take as very good reasons for some delay.

2) Emails - A newsletter went out a week ago to all TOs/News Stores - If you did not receive it please PM the Venomex or email [email protected]

3) We are not, and HAVE NEVER made out to be a lead distributor. All prizes and the Offical Distributor for Pokemon in the UK is Esdevium - we have never made out otherwise.

4) NOT TPFG and to be honest getting fed up of people harking back to those times - Yes that was a very dark timeofr the TCG, yes we do appricate the work the TO's have made in continuing the game while OP was on hiatus. HOWEVER first open Nationals with more "new" OP planned for the rest of the year as well as actively pushing OP behind the scenes that you guys do not see.

5) We are focused on OP as a whole. We have in place plans for the next 12 months, and have to plan that far ahead (To the point of working on 2009 Nationals location)

6) Yes there has been an issue with some prize support and this has been put down to "teething" problems - however I am aware from the posts that people seem to think we send these out. THis, as I stated before is not the case. Where state prizes are concerned, these have just arrived in the UK and will be sent out shortly - in time for the London States at least.

Freddy - Thank you for pointing our positive bits and the not so positive bits as feedback like this for any company is useful. HOweve stop the whole D...N...A bit - It's D & A for a start.....

Nopoke - Again see points above, and again thank you for running BR Autumn with the postal stikes/family.

Ace Gaming - Please note - D & A Games is not just a "one man and his dog" affair - we employ staff for the "Games" side of things (pokemon not being our sole contract) - however I will take issue with the "can't run OP with a family" however that is not for a public forum,.

OP is growing, new leagues are being set up, Natioanls are open, more is being put into promoting OP within new markets, we are aiming for an even bigger 2009 Nationals.

JUST so everyone is aware.....

Sorry Freddy but you do have the details wrong. TPfG were no longer involved after worlds last year, which left the UK in limbo from August. The limbo lasted until January whilst contracts and legal stuff were resolved with DNA games.

Autumn Battle Roads 2007 happened in the UK because POP didn't want the UK to miss out during the period of limbo. I was the vehicle for their delivery. The arrangement was a one off and POP made it clear it was not to be repeated in the UK.

Two post-release events for MT and SW happened in the UK at Crawley during the limbo period because I was able to get hold of promos and sleeves from the Netherlands. (Thanks to PSGames, Hape, and Wilfred)

I get most of my information about OP in the UK by watching what is sanctioned and trawling various bulletin boards such as Witch Engine, Phoenix games, Clifton Road etc. High Wycombe League is no longer visible presumed sleeping or worse :(

I've requested this thread gets deleted, people were getting the wrong impression.

I haven't read your pm Natalie yet but I think people were getting the wrong end of the stick. Sorry if things got out of hand. I'll try to call later today.

Yah, about the whole delete/lock my thread thing. I really hate that, and its not generally a service we provide outside the trading forums. People have begun discussing it. Unless the thing gets hopelessly off-topic... generally bad form to start a topic and delete your lead post. No offense or personal agenda. I would just explain yourself and move on.

yh maybe change the subject entirely and put like wat deck r u using for the nats....cuz tht wud be very helpful :p

It's a shame that the thread can't be seen in full context now either :( -

A point to all posters for now and the future - if you think it's a provocative post and it provokes an answer then leave it up - it has done it's job or ...

If you think it will bring wrath on your doorstep then maybe you don't want to post it in the first place...

I lose count of the number of posts I delete just before I hit the post reply button...
