GaGsol with Claydol

I have tried many versions of GG, and I think that furrett is good, but wagerable, while PLOX plays claydol and pachi which seems a bit inefective to me, and absol has good disruption, but lacks setup and speed. I was considering an Absol version of GG with Claydol, and wondered everyone elses opinion on it. So here is a list of the pokemon that might be in it.

4-2-2-3-1 Gallade/Gardy/Gardy X
2-2 Claydol
4 Absol

Could it work? Could it be more effective than other variations of GG? The answer is unknown...

Thanks for reading!

Should be effective IF your opponent can't get Claydol out before you stop Absoling and start Psychic Locking.

Now that the Phione is coming out, T3 Claydol is pretty much guarenteed. Sight of Absol places it as first priority. You should have one Gardy ready for T3 (T1 Absol, T2 DRE to Gardy, T3 Psychic to Gardy) - that is, if everything goes as planned. They still might be faster than you - after all, you are trying to get out Stage 2 with 3 Energies, while they're looking for Stage 1.

But by all means, test it and enlighten us with the results.

absol still hurts in the long run, whether they get dol or not. they still might be faster, but their late game is actually crippled if u use absol enough(sacfricing like 2) and then scramble to come back.

i have been considering a similar move and i think alot depends on the trainer line. do you still use TGM or just TGW? TGM isn't a natural fit with claydol like it is with absol. what about call energy, do deviate for a turn with absol to set your own bench up?

It actually is (Ew. Pun). All of your basics have 1 retreat, don't they? The most irratating problem with Absol is how it needs to be active to be worth anything, and on turn 1, if you don't have it in your opening hand, it's not getting to the important cards in their hand. 1 Unown Q would seriously help.

Opposing Claydols are a tad problematic though... Cessation Crystal's out of the question because of you using your own Claydol. Gardevoir could work, but then you're letting the opponent build up a hand for Rare Candy + Scramble or something like that. Absol's not going to be able to ensure consistant harassment like what normal PLOX promises, but maybe the short term removal of key cards will make up for it. I don't ever recall losing games because my opponent discarded Rare Candies/Warp Points to prevent my set up, but certainly in the long run...

And... Since Claydol's a bit unable to be properly compensated for with Absol, I'd think Wagers would be okay for disruption supporters. Seriously, a Wager + Baleful Wind is painful enough. Due to drawing a card at the start of their turn, they'll always be able to Cosmic Power. If Mars said Discard the selected card instead of Return it to the deck, that'd be a better play, but since neither solution is permenant, it's better to go for mass confusion then rather small cherry picking.

take out 1-1 claydol and use 1-0-1 dusknoir .
Claydol is only to start the game until you have garde with garde in play it difficult to have 6 or less card in hand unless you played a wager and loose but only 1-1 claydol is only a tech . and absol and furret are the best starters for this deck . I´prefer absol but it´s your choice

Plox loses lots of power if it doesn't get out fast. Wager and Psychic Lock if the opponent played Togekiss and already has two Mag with lots of energy on his bench?

So Pachirisu is the best starter imho, Absol is even more luck-based than TGW and doesn't help to get your Claydol and Gardevoir by T2 or T3. With Pachirisu and Claydol coming Absol got less effective, but with Phione beeing added to those cards it should be almost useless against some decks. Call Energy is a nice option, but you can only use either call effect or Baleful Wind.

The deck is commonly referred to Absolade.

But, yes the deck is still seeing play. A varient beat me at OKC States in finals.
