Origins Event List and Registration -$0 transaction works!

I got the official email from Origins early this morning that event registration will open tomorrow morning (May 15th)! Yes, this means that we will be able to register for US Nationals. However, if you are only registering for Nationals it will be a 'zero dollar transaction' and will not be able to processed online. You will need to call or email. There will be lots of other fun events at Origins. The list of events - both a Master list and individual category lists - are available for download at http://www.originsgamefair.com/2008 . I'm having trouble downloading them at the moment but the error should be resolved soon.

BJJ763 - changed title to include $0 transactions - hope you don't mind.

It is very hard to do business with them through the site. It's just horribly designed, every year getting worse.

The event lists are downloading fine now. I do agree that the site is not very 'user friendly' but I have always found the people very helpful and friendly when I have needed assistance either via email or phone.

Also, there are actually THREE different events for US Nationals as they are divided into the age divisions:

Event #8000 Pokemon TCG US Nationals Championship - Masters Division
Event #8001 Pokemon TCG US National Championships - Senior Division
Event #8002 Pokemon TCG US National Championships - Junior Division

The Maximum Players for Masters is 408 and for Juniors and Seniors it is 152.

Bear in mind those numbers are most likely because all the positions reserved for States/Regionals winners are taken out, so none of them will be included in those numbers... So it's not as  as it looks :thumb:

Its a kids game. So it looks bad for kids.

The password recovery link says it sends you an email. I get nothing. Won't let me create a new account because it says I have one for that email address. It is very user unfriendly!

Hi this is the first time I going to nationals, so when I add the event to my badge I'll be guarantee a seat in nationals?
Is there any other pokemon events that I should add?

Interesting that there is 408 spots for masters and not even 200 respectively for each of the other 2 age groups.

Yes. If you add it to your badge, you will ge guaranteed a seat in Nationals. Be sure you get in the right age group!
8000 - Masters
8001 - Senior
8002 - Junior

I'd recommend League: 8202, although in the past you also had to register at the League Desk in the gaming hall. It's free!

There is a free modified tournament every day, except Wednesday. Last year these had more players than most state championships!

There are sealed deck tournaments (6 packs, like a prerelease) every day. It shows a price of $8.00, but I'm sure this is a typo. I think the Origins folks just make up numbers when they first set up the list, and don't get these.

It looks like you can sign up to play in the Finals for the National Championships (8801) but I'm sure you really can't. It does say Max Capacity is 0.

I'm pretty sure that the capacities are lower than what is listed on the POP website because of the spots reserved for the winners of the state and regional championships.

<answered above>

Why is the event held at Origins that charges a fee for the free event hosted by PUI and Ohio of all places.

Why can't they run their own event in a more central location...........

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

They sound real organized, I am starting to worry now........

Not really.

There were 13 American Regionals, with 1st and 2nd each getting a badge and reserved entry. 13x2=26.
There were 39 American States, with 1st and 2nd each getting a badge and reserved entry. 39x2=78.

Since 26+78 = 104, each division needs 104 spots taken out of the general pool. Since it was announced that the breakdown by division would be capped at 256/256/512 (http://www.go-pokemon.com/op/premierevents/championshipseries/nationals/info/07-08/answers2.html), there'll be 256-104=152 / 256-104=152 / 512-104=408 spots available to the public.

Not checking for me, just checking for a friend.... can someone (preferably a PTO or someone from the POP office) confirm this.

Those who won there badge via states or regs.... they alredey have thier event ticket secure... right?

Hey, I am just saying what I read on the sheet, not what I think will happen. But Origins has it that way for some reason.

Awesome! I missed that! There is a Pokemon DS tournament on Saturday night that my boys want to try and it is $2 so we had a big $4 total for that and everything else Pokemon.
