In general the most common statement I hear is "signed cards are worth as much as someone is willing to pay for them". Assuming the card is not one that is uber rare e.g. No.1 trainer card or something ridiculous like that, would anyone's signature really add the value that much, just in your (reader of this thread) opinion.

Obviously be within reason, this includes any previous world champs etc, artists/creators (i.e. the ones who go to worlds Sugimori, etc)

Thanks, I'm interested to know opinions.
 
well, rare promotional cards are worth less with a signature. even if the sig is from the illustrator!

But if the cards are not very rare.. just normal promotional cards.. then it increases the value a little bit.

Mid level ($20 and down) promo cards are increased with the signature of the artist.

I have sold the Torchic Pokeball Holo Promos signed by the artist for $50.

Skitty: yes.. thats the reason... a rare card has to be untouched..

davidy: Well, a japanese Gold victory medal.. is only worth about $150... so.. then i'd probably sign it.. but a card that is worth more than 200... I'd never sign..

It is definately worth alot for personal collection value but to prove it is authentic is the problem. I mean someone , not saying you or anyone in particular, can forge signatures and try sell them as authentic so to answer your question I think signed cards are really only worth what you think they are worth for your collection. I myself now have a huge collection of autographed cards from a former world champ and creators and artists but I think if i was to sell them they wouldn't go for much more than the cards are worth without a signature unless you can somehow produce a certificate of authenticity. My collection to me is worth super big bucks but to trade/sell them they wouldn't hold to much value to others. I myself know they are authentic as pretty much every one I have signed is from a trustworthy friend.:thumb:

One thing you could do to help prove athentisity would be to take a picture of the person signing it. Then you get an autograph and a picture.:biggrin:

That is generally the best solution, although technically I can get Ken S. to sign my Psyduck and take a photo then keep it and sign another... etc
