New PS3 Broke Within 9 Days

I used to be an Xbox 360 owner, but sold it more than a year ago, as my girlfriend wanted me to get rid of it (should have got rid of her instead, but it's another story).

When it came time to play GTA IV, I did some research and decided to give the PS3 a try, especially with the new Metal Gear coming out next month.

Well, i cannot believe what a piece of junk the PS3 is, and not just because it broke within 9 days, when they released a new firmware update. Playing online is difficult and not cohesive, the store and menu are counter intuitive, and the supposedly "future-proof" PS3 hard drive is filling up, already, simply from game installs. If i had not purchased and opened over $200 in games, I would have taken this piece of junk back right away and grabbed an elite 360.

Now, as I pack my PS3 up, to ship to Sony tomorrow, I feel as though I wasted $400, adn should have purchased a 360 elite. At least Microsoft gave me free games when i ran into troubles.

When I told the PS3 phone reps that my consumer confidence was terribly shaken with the PS3, and asked how Sony could reassure me that my $400 was spent well, they offered nothing.

So now I must perform my commercial activism and use word of mouth to share with others that the PS3 is an all-around disappointing experience, and not just because mine broke a little more than a week after purchase (though that does play a role in it).

Pretty much everybody knows PS3 is a piece of junk besides those who own one and I doubt you'll convince them to sell it and switch to 360 due to arrogance and ignorance.

My PS2 was such a piece, I didn't even bother with PSP or PS3. Games freezing, disc read errors, etc. I didn't feel like wasting $400.

I'll second the motion!!

X-Box 360 > PS3

Oh, and good luck with the replacement, or fix or whatever!!:thumb:

I know individual horror stories may scare a lot of you, but for every bad one there is a good one. I haven't personally owned a PS3, but any system can be messed up if you're not careful. Chances are yo did something wrong, no telling what it was.

You don't even state why it crapped out on you. Could have easily been over heating, too much hdanling of the system, or something that happened while you weren't playing it.

It didn't take the new firmware upgrade, and has bad software. my ps3 is not in my entertainment cabinet so that it doesn't overheat.

I'm not trying to change people's minds, but if i can prevent others from making the same mistake: great. Now that i've been to the other side, i am absolutely positive that the 360 is the more impressive system. only its dvd media holds it back.

There are two reasons though why I am considering buying a PS3. The Fifa Interactive World Cup 2009 and future Final Fantasy XII. Other than that I would never consider it, and if it was only for Final Fantasy I wouldn't but it, but the FIWC is too tempting. Sorry to hear that yours was broken so quickly.

XBox 360 has soccer games too you know.

My order:

Xbox 360
Wii
PS3

Eh, I think this is a bit more accurate than putting PS3 and the Wii at the same levels. Wii beats PS3 out of not having real hardware problems (other than not having a hard-drive).

I know Xbox360 has soccer games as well, but the PS3 online rankings are the ones that count to qualify for the FIFA 'Worlds' equivalent to Pokemon Worlds, which is why I will buy one eventually.

In the overall sense though, Wii is kicking butt in this generation, but please don't turn this topic into a console flamewar.

First, off Pablo dont you mean Final Fantasy 13 (XIII). 12 (XII) was released on the PS2.

Secondly, I know that a lot of the Sony and Microsoft systems have had errors. You barely ever see error by Nintendo. However, I plan to this week pick up a "Fat" PS2. I bought all of the Final Fantasy Games, and XI only works on the "Fat" PS2. So, while I like my Nintendo Systems, I really like the FF games and therefor have to buy a PS2.

I have a ps3 and so far i never had a problem with it. The problem with ps3 is that is was released about a year and a half after the x360. So it's obvious that the 360 has more games.

About the graphics it's the same. the x360 was released before ps3 so developers had more time to study how it works and develop good graphics for it.

The ps3 graphics are almost on par with those of the x360 and in a year's time i think that they'll be better. Just look at mgs4 graphics. they are amazing!

The ps3 also got some nice games coming like GT5, MGS4, tekken, resident evil, little big planet, final fantasy, white knight etc.

On the other side the x360 has a nice FPS game library and with it a good controller for playing FPS games.

How good is the PS3 as a BluRay player? My dad is considering getting a BluRay to go with his new HDTV, and I'm trying to convince him to get a PS3 as his BluRay without mentioning games to him. Of course, once he gets the PS3, I'm spending about $200 on PS2 RPGs. Thx for the help!

Yep, I keep telling people PS3 is a piece of crud, but they say it has sweet gwafixths and really hot gamethses that everyone wantths!@! The only good series' that Sony ever made were Rachet & Clank, and the .hack series.

My order is 360/Wii>>>>>>>>>>>>>>PS3.

Actually, considering what Chris just posted, I'll chop off about two of those >'s because that was a very, very pretty game.

All things considered, I do have a PS3, and I do love it so, but quite frankly not only do the Wii and 360 have better titles and better quality, but they're also less confusing (unless you lose your pointer on the Wii. From my many if short Gamestop based encounters with it I still can't figure out how you're supposed to find it if you lose it) and more user friendly.

However, Plebianprint, if your PS3 broke in nine days... that's too bad for you. I've used mine excessively since Christmas before last, I've kept up with all the updates, including the last one, and I've never had any problems other than running out of memory (which I admit does stink).

Still, Wii and 360 pwn PS3, 360 due to it's wide array of incredible titles and high graphical quality, and Wii because of it's unique interface and Brawl, which makes it automatically pwn anything other than 360, with which it ties evenly.
