A little tired of Silly names for existing decks

Anyone besides me getting a little Silly of random deck names given to a deck so that someone can think that there deck is more special then the hundreds of others who have the exact same deck give or take a few cards? I am not talking about brand new deck ideas Like Arithmetic (Gyrados, Cresselia and Bannette) If you truly create a brand new deck Idea, then feel free to give it any decent name that you can. But do not take a deck Idea that has been around for months, tech a few pokemon, or trainer cards into it, and then say "WOW" look at me I am so clever I created a new deck. (for Example POLX, no matter what you call it it is still "G&G" Gardevoir and Gallade. whatever your tech is, it has not changed either the main concept of the deck nor its execution.)

There are of course other examples of this, but that is the most common example of it right now. Personally I feel a deck should be called by what Pokemon are in it, however there is room for clever names like Skittles for Ho-oh Co. But if I was to tech into that decklist a PK Magneton in Skittles, it would still be Skittles no matter how much I wanted to start calling it Overlord.

I agree with this 100%. Very true how people tech cards and say, "oh, i just makez an uberrr deckz! i call it ____ " It's the same deck. Props to you for writing this.

More or less the same thing. When you aren't playing any Garde or Gallade in your plox list, then let me know.

The goal of a good deck name (other than simply calling it "card's name component"/"card's name that is key component") is to at least hint at what's in the deck, while describing what the deck does. Acronyms aren't that bad, either...Just look at 2003/2004!

I liked them when they were like "Ludicargo." Then I wouldn't feel stupid when people were talking about decks.

But then that might reveal the secret of the deck. Since everyone is so gung ho on wanting to hide things....Let's name it something like 4 corners.....or Arithmetic, or plox. No one will know what's in it. Gotta hide those SD's, because someone might find out.

GG the focus is almost compleatly on Gallade, using Gardevoir mostly as a setup/support pokemon, while Plox makes full use of Gardevoirs attack. In Plox Gallade doesn't even really attack, its just there for those few times when you need to OHKO somthing. Plox also sounds MUCH better than G&G.

Hey buddy,
Thanks for attacking Plox. It's not like I just made it up so I didn't have to call it GG. Plox is an abbreviation for Psychic Lock... One of the best attacks in the game. I doubt you know anything about that. I don't know who you are, or what you've ever contributed to the US metagame... But I invented R-Gon and know a bit more about naming decks than you.

Also your right, Skittles is the most amazing name ever w00t Skittles its soo good all you ahve to do is flip heads!@#$!@?# wh00t

And I invented Babyporter-also the Internet.

They're decks people. Call them whatever you like.

G&G = PLOX in my book. IMHO it's a distinction that makes some peole feel better about what they play. There were all the debates about how bad G&G was ... about how it took no skill ... etc. By calling it "PLOX" it seems to sidestep all that nonsense. (And BTW G&G *always* took skill to run).

He was one of the main creators of R-Gon. >_>

Call the deck whatever you want. It's kind of silly to make a whole thread to complain about what people name their decks. Get over it.

This seems like a rant against PLOX. Get over whatever you need to get over, JandPDS. You desperate for some kind of recognition? I don't even care if people think our PLOX lists and style is the same as normal GG lists- how different is pepsi than coke? It's a marketed idea and style, and people like it.

Go make a deck yourself to name!

Um, 4 corners wasnt a bad deck name. It made sense. 4 different types = 4 corners. Compared to some of the decks that have been names it is by far one of the better ones.

Right, because Psychic Lock has an X in it. Oh, wait no it doesnt.

There have been some pretty bad deck names. I am pretty sure calling Ludicargo, King of the West was one of them. Seriously some of the decks have been pretty bad. I mean seriously if you have been playing long enough you have been around when people for some unknown reason called Dragtrode, Dark Heart. Trust me some of the deck names now are so much better than some have been in the past. Some of the current names dont make anysense, plox being one of them as for all of cities it was call GG and then all of a sudden during states it was changed to Plox.

As far as Arithmetic, I can fault the name. Jimmy being who he is and being able to create insanely good rogue decks is allowed to call his decks whatever he wants because atleast with his deck there is a decent reasons for calling his deck that.

Plox is 1337 speak for please. It was invented long ago, and not by you.

It really doesn't matter what people call their decks. During a tournament your deck will either be called by the name you made up, or your "main attacker" followed by the word "JANK". It depends on how seriously people take your deck building abilities. It is a privilege everyone can have, but not all can afford.

Sometimes we just have to think outside the PLOX.

A lot of areas have their own regional names for decks, which for the most part we keep off of the internet and the boards, just because of this issue.

DJ made a great version of FlygonEX which was called, in STL - Flu.

We have our own version of G&G which we call - "The Blade"

Do we post those names here? NO. Why? This very discussion.

Good luck, and I would suggest everyone just use the "generic" names and keep the regional names within your region/Family/testing group/whatever.

I would support a gym rule that thread names in the deck help must contain the main pokémon or the standard name. Ie no "Killer Penguins" or "Flame Buster Togeplane" etc. Yeh, new deck new name. New central strategy, new deck.

Not to ban original names, just to restrict them from the thread title, so people know what they are getting when they look at the deck.

Players name their decks whatever they want to, it's theirs so it's their choice to do whatever they want with it.

'Nuff said.

The problem is, not everyone knows what you're speaking about with such names.

I called my Nationals deck "Atlantis", I created it by myself but I know that there are other people who created similar decks so I speak of "Empoleon/Bronzong" in public.

Once names are known by most of the players, it shouldn't be a problem to use them. You know what Plox is and you know what Skittles is.

Of course Plox is based on G/G but it's not the same deck. They don't necessary need a new name for it (since Magmortar/Claydol and Magmortar/Typhlosion/Delcatty don't have special names either), but now it has one and I don't see a problem there.
