POKÉMON USA AND BURGER KING CORP. PARTNER FOR GLOBAL PROMOTION IN 2008

BURGER KING® Restaurants Worldwide to Offer Exclusive
Pokémon Premiums with Each Purchase of a Kids Meal

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BELLEVUE, Wash. — June 10, 2008 – Pokémon USA, Inc., and Burger King Corp. today announced a promotional partnership that will bring popular characters like Pikachu®, Darkrai™, Dialga™ and Palkia™ to children around the world. Participating BURGER KING® restaurants worldwide will offer an exclusive Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) card and accessory with each purchase of a BK® Kids Meal. These BURGER KING® restaurants will be the only place where children can obtain each of the 12 different Pokémon TCG cards and accessories. The promotion will run from July 7 through August 3 domestically and throughout the late summer and fall internationally.
Available for a limited time only, while supplies last, the premiums are based on Pokémon TCG: Diamond & Pearl—the latest expansion of the best-selling Pokémon Trading Card Game—featuring characters from Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, the video games sold exclusively for Nintendo DS™. The program will be supported by Burger King Corp. through a fully integrated marketing campaign that includes television advertising, in-restaurant merchandising, custom packaging and an online minisite (www.bk.com/pokemon).

"Burger King is a wonderful partner for Pokémon,” said J.C. Smith, marketing director at Pokémon USA, Inc. “The combination of highly collectible Pokémon Trading Card Game giveaways with the extensive worldwide reach and marketing provided by Burger King is certain to create excitement and anticipation among Pokémon fans and players."

"Burger King Corp. and Pokémon are both big brands widely known for innovation, which makes this partnership a great fit," said Cindy Syracuse, Senior Director of Marketing Impact for Burger King Corp. "Together we offer consumers access to Pokémon TCG Diamond and Pearl cards as well as exclusive card accessories found only in BURGER KING restaurants."

So Nintendo now don't care about the environment or childhood obesity. But major brilliance for raising awareness of Pokémon, it brings a whole hoard of new players.

Well, BK and PUSA have teamed up in the past. I don't know how many Pokemon toys there have been in BK kids meals. Especially those gold cards in the pokeballs, back in the old days--I think that was BK, too.

Either way, it's a shame we don't have many BKs near here. It'd be nice to know which cards are comin' out. XD

Glad to see this announcement of this partnership.

This is what many people have been wanting, with the different ways to get TCG cards in Japan. Glad I like BK alot.

Thanks PUI / BK!!!!

This is AMAZING. This partnership might bring a new batch of players to those Asian countries that lack them. Major thanks to PUSA and BK CORP for this. Thank you. *Hopes that this promotion will include Malaysia*

Sweet. This is awesome. But I still miss the tomatoes in fast food resturaunts. ;_;

go to A&W. their tomatos are always fresh.

the BK.com/pokemon link is a broken link for now. they dont have it up yet.

but this is great as long as the cards arent just old cards with holo.

there are 3 BK's in my area and there arent any pokemon stuff for the kids meal..i tried lol XD
but it would be intreesting what pokemon they will be probably pikachu! lol XD

Well then, back to BK again. Sucks for us older people who might want them. Looks bad on me to go in and ask for a kids meal to get a card. The should also make promos of less know characters instead of Pikachu and others.

Agreed. Most Lv Xs go between 20 and 50 bucks, and the kids meals aren't even 10, I don't think. Lv. Xs in the meals will be, for the most part, impossible.

That isn't neccesarily true

There might be 1 Lv.X out of the 12 as when McDonalds did the yugioh card thing they had like 2 Ultra rares out of the 15 or so cards. As well as that, putting a Lv.X in it will attract even hardcore gamers, not just kids.

Ya I am going to go to Burger King as much as possible

A&W even has tomatoes right now? From what I've heard/seen, the FDA pulled tomatoes from shelves in resturaunts such sa BK and Micky D's because of salmonella.

Don't feel bad. Adults buying the smaller portions in the kid's meal is a very, very common suggestion from nutritionists, etc. Obviously, they would prefer that adults eat elsewhere or get the salad but if you are set on a burger and fries then get the smaller portion. You can always add something on the side like a salad, fruit, yogurt, etc. Of course, sometimes I'm just really hungry and simply buy 2 kid's meals for myself. :) And it keeps my two boys from fighting over a single toy.

This will be great! I guess that I will need to take a little cash out of the Origins food budget so that we can eat lots of BK in July. There is a BK right across the street from our league in Dublin, OH so I think that I will suggest pre-league dinner at BK between Nats and Worlds.
