Making your own playmats!

The subject came up in a topic some time ago about making your own playmats. Well, now that I'm finally settled into my new apartment, I've completed what I've set out to do...designing custom playmats!

Using good 'ol Photoshop, here's a basic play-mat I was able to whip out:

This is the more simple version. I'm working on other variations that have more elaborate backgrounds; the one other I've finished uses the card-art from the original Japanese "Misty's Tears" card. I would post a pic, buuuuuut, something tells me 'Mom would have my head (unless she tells me otherwise).

Anyway, I'm sure you're all asking "Well, what use are these?" Well, quite simply, most print shops, or office supply stores that offer printing, will have a large-scale printer; one that prints off of a role of paper. My local Office Max has such a printer, allowing me to print anything with a maximum height/width of 3'.

Now, for those of you who're wondering some dimensions for making your own mats, here's the rundown!

The playmats that come in preconstructed decks measure 26.5"x12". A Pokemon card measures 3.5"x2.5".

im considering making my own...but i need one of the good blank playmats + some spraypaints and some guides to control my spraypainting on the liones etc and itll going to be glittering :p

yeah, fear the PINK PLAYMAT....Mews ftw =D

Just a bit of advice - I would advise against spray-painting fabric. It just won't work.

As I said, I'm getting mine printed out at Office Max, though I failed to mention I'm getting it laminated as well. ^_^;;;

you know the playmats used in ygo? im considering using these kinds when i got my hands on a blank white one:)

You can use fabric spraypaint. I produce art on shirts this way.

i have done either iron on's which are a pain and hard to get perfect,
screen printing , cost a little bit of money. depends on design.\
or just sharpie's , only if u like drawing and stuff ha ha

While in Ohio, we stayed in a Hotel off of Hamilton. There is a Wal-Mart which has a shop inside it and its all Air Brushed. Sunday before we rolled out, we were able to get in & have 1 made. We have been trying tog et them made forever & have been unable to do so. This guy is AWESOME, but EXTREMELY busy! Not having the real time to perfect our design seeings how we couldnt ever connect to the internet while at the Convention Center, my son had to do the best he could with what he had & rather quickly! 2 other parents had their kids 1 made & they turned out AWESOME! Here is a picture of ours, which my son designed. It is a transfer for the main picture, then its airbrushed around the edges, it turned out really great! You cant just take in a card & have him do it, you have to change it up a bit. The Mat was only $10 in the dealers room, & he charged $20 to do it. Very very reasonable considering the guy here in St. Louis weve found wants like $50ish!

These 2 are the other ones. The picture was very disorted because we didnt have the time to fix it correctly, but if you can do it right, it will be fine!
