Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

the road to us ranking invites... (dialup users beware - text heavy )

What Info do we have about Mexican Nationals, Pablo says its all posted but all I found of note was this. I cross checked the top 100 NA Mexico players with this and all I found was

1.- Sergio O. (Garde/Gallade/Tech)
2.- David F. (Blissey/Banette)
3.- Abraham J. (Garde/Gallade)
4.- Miguel L. (Empoleon/Omastar/Bronzong) 1824.60 50th so invite throuh Nats
5.- Antonio C. (Garde/Gallade)
6.- Josue P. (Lefeon/Magmortar) Former rank 1866.84 30th so he has one via rankings
7.- Juan E. (Absol/Houndoom)
8.- Aldo P. (Glaceon/Omastar)

Quoted from Ecruteak

Now there is 7 Mexico players in the Top 100 any info on the rest of them did?

...Of the Top 100:

"Ulises went 4-0 drop to secure the invite.
Josue got Top 8, and will go if he makes it
Francisco Avila did 5-3 and won't be going even with an invite.
David Najera did 5-3 and is probably off the race
Miguel got Top 4 goin 8-3 for the day, he should climb up and pass down.
Roberto Sore did 5-3 and is off the race."

Quoted from Pablo.

So in other words, unless Josue went a weak swiss record before making top cut, then 2/4 of the top 50 Mexicans now have their invites.

Pablo is still a mystery ~ We have our guesses about how his points will shape up, but most likely he would not drop 60 points (the amount needed to go below adam, omar, and myself).

Fransisco, the next in line after Drew G. and Michael P., did not perform well enough to earn an invite - nor did any of the others.

He did, because he's going on a trip to Scotland from the 9th to the 20th.

Oh, I applaud him for doing that. That is incredibly cool that he is going to do that. I have to tell him thanks when I see him next. I would guess that if he does that I am secured an invite, especially if Micheal Koo T4's CA Nats. :thumb:

Michael Koo went 2-1 and drop at Canadian Nats sorry. Some people just belive that Worlds is more important then Nationals.

Yeh, you did make a mistake. Micheal Perucca is not in an invite spot, but Micheal Koo is.

As for Canadian Nationals, it was uploaded last night. 1 person jumped above me, but the player already had an invite from T2ing the event. Malcolm S. made it into the T40 (which is now how far the trickle down goes).

three mistakes:

-Both Tyler and Drew: you have Alex Hill on the list. His ranking/rating is WRONG, yet it has not been fixed yet. I have on good (Omar-approved) word that he went 5-4.

-Just Tyler: you don't have Matt Koo on the list.

-Just Drew: you say that Michael Perucca "doesn't" qualify. He does with the Alex Hill situation in mind.

Also guys, keep in mind that there are many implications related to the Alex Hill rating change - essentially. NOBODY in the yellow pod who is below 30th has clinched an invite IMO. Likewise, guys like Adam Capriola are now no longer "out of the running."

Rating system

Hello everyone!

Pokemon has done a really great job getting the rating system to this point. Last year people gained too many points in Battle Roads and Citys then sat out nats to play in worlds. This year it is much more balaced with lower tourneys not being worth what the more competitive ones are. That said it still is important to have those swings in rating points. It should be possible for a player to go to nats go crazey and raise thier rating 100 points to qualify for Worlds even if they don't win Nats. Nats should be a big deal.

This year it worked out that several of you could have sat out in theory and gone to worlds. We still don't know if that would have been true as the points that you lost would not have been on the line for someone else to win. Had some of you sat out others would have won or lost which means that the points would have changed yet again. It is possible that by not playing you still would have missed the cut. There is a fine balance here that is trying to be maintained. We shouldn't weigh the less competitive events more or Nats less. IF you do either you are getting the same net effect which would be an increased incentive to not play.

Resetting the rating level each year has its drawbacks. One of which is that the player who is top level who hasn't played much this year and has a lower rating than they should becomes very dangerous. The other option is to carry over ratings which again gives the incentive to not play to keep that rating high enough to go to nats and worlds.

Threads like this help improve the game that we all love. Good luck to all of those who qualified for Worlds. Good luck to those of you that will GRIND your way in.

Jason: I already taken the banned player in consideration, and I guess I got both Ians mixed up

Drew: Sorry about that, I obviously did not intend to scare you or anything like that.
