Who else has watched this series? At first I thought it would be another lame mecha anime, but I was horribly mistaken. The character development was the best of any anime I've watched in awhile, the plot was FANTASTIC, and it had some of the most original mechas I've ever seen. Not to mention the artwork of the battles was awesome (and seizure-rific)!

Discuss. :D

There's a thread a couple pages back discussing it when it was still releasing.

Yes. It is awesome.

I'll be buying the DVDs definitely.

I will be sure to record it on my DVR off of Sci-Fi Channel starting this Monday!

Also if it is good, I will get the DVDs later (when the Dub version of the DVD comes out).

Wait, it's going to be on the Sci-Fi channel...? When did this happen?

I assume it's airing on Ani-Monday, then? Interesting, I may check it out...

well i just saw the whole thing subbed and it was saddening...it was great but the outcomes were in no way the way i expected it to be

Yep, basically Sci-Fi is slowly trying to take the Anime crown from Cartoon Network. They got this show, and Gundam 00 (September). All that Adult Swim got lately (unless they have some secret that we don't know) is that Morbito show (which is replacing Code Geass when it is done with it's 1st season).

They are also showing His & Her Circumstances IIRC.

BTW the Gurren Lagann show is dubbed, cause they did a rush job over at Bang Zoom. Also JYB is in the show...

Also just in case, the name of the main character is Simon, which is pronounced kinda strange, cause they wanted to use the Greek pronunciation...so therefore it will sound a lot like a certain Dreamcast Videogame "Seaman"...

They are showing 2 episodes of each show, which makes it way cool.

Glad to hear. I would have been ticked if they changed the pronunciation. (Unless it really is pronounced "Seaman" then I'll be ticked for them doing it wrong.)

I thought his name was pronounced like Sai-min (Simon). You know... like that mean guy from American Idol? <.< Anyway, I'll definitely be checking this out.

Nope. Shimon (she-mohn). Link contains spoilers for those who haven't seen the series.
Simon's name comes from the Japanese word shimo which means "below/inferior" (as opposed to kami which mean "top/superior"). That is why the i is pronounced as a long e.

Yep, just watched the first 2 episodes last night, the show was pretty cool. Obviously loads of stuff is going to happen in the show. Also Steven Jay Blum as a fruity character is so random. They also showed Now & Then, Here & There (not the show I thought which was His & Her Circumstances), which looked interesting, the only problem is that since they are also showing 2 episodes of that, and it's a 13 episode show, what are they going to do in about a month or so?

So quick reminder, Episodes 3-4 are on tonight. I heard that episode 4 uses a different art style, so it might be a bit odd (not like the show is not odd enough).

Thats just proper Japanese pronunciation.

A= Ah
I= EE
U= Oooh
E= Eh?
O= Oh

Also, there is no character for Si so the closest would be Shi.

The show is great, and while the DVD subtitles are sub-par when compared to the fansubs, the video quality is noticeably higher. The box the DVD comes in is crappy. I may not even keep it due to how lame it looks. But it does hold the DVD case and the CD case for the soundtrack nicely. Get ready for the epic mecha!!!!!

Ore wa shinjiru, ore wa shinjiro

It could have been pronounced (and written in kana as) Saimon but still written (in the roman alphabet) as Simon.

Also, e = ay as in nay, ne?
