Here is my haymaker deck idea for the modified format:

Pokemon: 14

3 Ditto (LA)
2 Rotom (MD)
2 Mewtwo (MD)
2 Mewtwo lv. X (LA)
2 Chatot (MD)
1 Smeargle (SW)
1 Shuckle (SW)
1 Lunatone (GE)

Trainers: 31

4 Snowpoint Temple (LA)
3 Warp Point (DP)
4 Felicity's Drawing (GE)
4 Pluspower (DP)
4 Super Scoop Up (DP)
4 Roseanne's Research (SW)
2 Night Maintenance (MT)
2 TM-TS 2 (LA)
4 Pokedex 910 (DP)

Energy: 15
3 Psychic
2 Lightning
2 Fighting
2 Grass
2 Fire
2 Call Energy (Majestic Dawn) or Multi Energy

Strategy: Discard energy with Lunatone and Felicity's Drawing and power up Ditto with Rotom. Snowpoint Temple gives some extra HP and Super Scoop Up if you need to.

Spoiler (LA) from Pokebeach...

[.] De-Evolutionator: De-Evolve 1 of your opponent’s Pokemon (excluding Pokemon LV.X) by 1 Evolutionary stage. The Pokemon card removed by De-Evolution is returned to your opponent’s hand.

To use a Technical Machine, attach it to one of your Pokemon. The Pokemon this card is attached to can use the attack on this card.

Ditto LV.33 – Colorless – HP60
Basic Pokemon

Poke-Body: Metamorphosizing DNA
As long as this Pokemon is an Active Pokemon, its maximum HP is the same as the opponent's Active Pokemon's maximum HP, and it can use that Pokemon's attacks as its own (it must have the required Energy for the attack).

Weakness: Fighting (+20)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Snowpoint Temple – Stadium

Each player's Unevolved Pokemon has its maximum HP increased by 20.

A Stadium can only be put into play next to your Active Pokemon once during your turn. If a Stadium with a different name is put into play, discard this card.

Mewtwo LV.X - Psychic - HP120
Level-up

Poke-Body: Psychic Barrier
Prevent all damage and effects done to Mewtwo by the attacks of your opponent's unevolved Pokemon.

[P][P][C] Giga Burn: 120 damage. Discard all Energy attached to Mewtwo.

Weakness: Psychic (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2

It is hard to find inconsistencies in your deck in fact I don't think you should have posted this deck and tried to surprise everyone with it eventhough it is not a secret with ditto But this deck will rock!

Nice:biggrin:

Shuckle isn't needed, not much special energy out now. Cut a chatot, it seems to be for warp point, or am I wrong?

Cut a smeargle, you don't need 3, and with so many basics you aren't likely to start with him anyway.

I would have another basic in there that can actually attack when they bring out someone weak. How 'bout hitmonchan, The original haymaker pokemon?

(fun fact: base set's hitmonchan's attack in japan was called haymaker, and that is where this deck got its name)

I disagree I think Shuckle will be good with the playing of Multi's which is decent and just about everybody at least thinks about call energy. But Hitmonchan is a definite it is a decent card and will work well in this deck. Other than that Fantastic Idea!:pokeball::biggrin::pokeball:

Okay so if I'm playing Hitmonchan, I should definitely play Tyrogue:

Tyrogue LV.10 – Fighting – HP60
Basic Pokemon

Poke-Power: Baby Evolution
You can use this Power once during your turn. Play a Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, or Hitmontop card on top of this Pokemon, Evolving this Pokemon. When you do, remove all damage counters from this Pokemon.

[F] Gutsy Charge: 10 damage. If the Defending Pokemon is Evolved, this attack does an additional 20 damage and Tyrogue does 10 damage to itself.

Weakness: Psychic (+10)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

I think Hitmonlee might be a better choice, since it has 10 more HP:

Hitmonlee LV.24 – Fighting – HP80
Basic Pokemon

[F][C] Gutsy Kick: 30 damage. If Hitmonlee is Evolved from Tyrogue, you may do this damage to 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokemon instead of the Active Pokemon.
[F][C][C] Mega Kick: 60 damage.

Weakness: Psychic (+20)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

wow, this is nice, i just went through my old books, and i found the tcg guild from when Team Rocket (WOTC) just came out, and i saw the original haymaker list. i would sujest adding some more t1 power, for that 1t win, but over all, this is a very sweet deck, that might win.

"So what does this deck do against Mewtwo lv.X?"

Well, I guess if you want to counter Mewtwo lv. X, Chingling and Chimecho (Mysterious Treasures) might work as basics and you can evolve using baby evolution should help if you still want to use basics. 40 damage and confusion shouldn't be too bad. Gallade might be worrisome too.

....

Actually I might as well add in a 2 Mewtwo (Majestic Dawn) - Mewtwo lv. X (LA) to counter Mewtwo lv. X.

This is a nice idea, take it ol skool and such. I would have lose Smeragle and a chatot and add in Chingling MT/Chimeco MT,it would help you setup and can slow their setup if you confuse their starters.

Thanks, I was actually also debating if I should replace Shuckle (Secret Wonders) with Mr. Mime (Mysterious Treasures) and Mime Jr. (Diamond and Pearl).

I thought Mewtwo lv. X could be added....

Ditto is not good for this reason:

Let's say the opponent's Pokemon is Empoleon, so your Ditto has 130 HP total. The opponent then uses Surf Together to do 80 damage.

Next turn, they play Warp Point. Your Ditto is now dead.

Which is better the abiltiy to kill a ditto in the turn after they attack or durring.

Yes, but then I'm left with a couple options, I can Super Scoop Up or I can attack and then devolve you with my new basic. Ditto could also be my only pokemon, but then all you would have to do is retreat.
Let's face it, this deck is not risk free, but it might work. Ditto may not be amazing, but it's probably faster to set up than Empoleon since it's a basic. And woudn't Ditto have 150 hp since it isn't evolved?

Counter Stadiums will hurt and so will Warp Point but after a while after they play all their stadia, there will be less surprises in the end game.
Now if that were Donphan (Secret Wonders) with Lake Boundary, then yes Ditto wouldn't be too useful.

ok i have a question. wat was the original haymaker? i never knew

The original was Chan, Buzz, and Farfetched. But the one everyone remembers was Chan, Buzz, Scyther.

But Sponge >>>> Haymaker. And Wigglytuff >>>> everythying before Neo Genesis. I wish people still played old school, I still have my deck from Base through Gym Challenge.

"run 4 Multi, they are still legal."

I might think about it and probably will, but I wasn't quite sure because Rotom can only attach basic energy back from the discard. With Mewtwo that may or may not be as much of an issue.
