Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Call Energy

Enlighten us, oh great chanman, why would it NOT be useful to grant every pokemon in your deck with a potentional Call for Family addition? Whilst still providing energy that can be used for other attacks? Which further means that a Phione+Call Energy=Guaranteed T2 Claydol?

What if you don't have call energy in your hand?It also can't be used in certain decks like Banette.

Call Energy is one of the best cards in format. Of course it happens that you start without Call Energy, but it also can happen that you don't start with your starter, and yet, people use starters at least since I started to play Pokémon.

There are a few decks in which Call Energy brings some disadventage - Garchomp for example, or as you named, Banette. But in most decks they are just a great boost to consistency.

Maybe Call Energy will lose some potential next season - with deck like Kingdra and AMU who probably won't play it, with Multi Energy getting more popular and with Sableye beeing able to T1 Wager, it could be not as great as it is right now - but at the moment any deck that doesn't need colored energy only and that takes no disadventages from it should play Call Energy.

Your logic is that because a card isn't useful in one particular deck, it isn't useful at all. That's just..bizarre. =S

And if you don't have it in your hand? Yeah there's always the chance of that with any card. So, what, no cards are good because you might not have them in your hand? Of course, if you don't play it then it definitely won't be in your hand!

It really is one of the best cards in the format, its just so convenient.

You're not, a number of members on here dissed the card like crazy before its release. The reason Call Energy is good is because it is CARD ADVANTAGE. You can afford to run no starter and like one Chatot for recovery, and since Call Energy acts as energy, it's actually taking up no space at all. It just replaces some basic energy you'd normally use.

Call Energy can be good/bad based upon the deck's play style (set-up or dmg) like and eevee deck is perfect with call energy while an absol starter deck call is useless. And I don't think call energy is worth playing unless you are running 4.

Call energy can take the space of your starter. Instead of playing a starter which after the first few turns will be useless and only a free prize for your opponent or wasting a bench space, you will play call energy. Which will be usefull throughout all the game as an energy.

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't like call energy

Yes, you are.

Reasons to like Call energy;

1. If you can get one in your opening hand (which is not too unlikely) you can very easily overcome the disadvantages of a Baltoy start.

2. If you get your usual starter out T1 you can use Call to get out another Pokemon and a Baltoy. Next turn you can have a T2 Claydol.

3. It can be used even when the active is affected by special conditions.

4. It can be used as an energy late game.

There are many other reasons.

Because it is an excellent card in washout. But seriously it is a good card. Being able to get out 2 basics with any pokemon is superb. It works great in washout too.

Don't worry. You're not alone. I can TOTALLY see how you'd simply replace the call energy to trainers that will get you some eh .. basics w/o giving up a turn ?

Turn 1 call energy is OK .. . but... it's just another option. REALLY depends on your deck. It does kinda save you a spot from using Pachi which takes up space on bench or gives up a prize to opponent. .. so...

I definately feel you on this one. Personally, i'm building decks w/o phione, pachi or call...
