My friends and countrymen,
It's not desirable for me to do single elimination with 256 people for numerous reasons:
-256 people...Means 128 challenges, unless I do it by "divisions." Think about that: that's an entire SET of Pokemon cards (and we know how bad certain cards can be)!
-Single elimination off the bat won't give me a good chance to properly determine the strongest among this giant field.,
I don't want to guarantee anything, but by the end of Monday I intend to post a full description on tournament format. Here is my preliminary format:
*Eight divisions (pods) of about 32 people each.
*Two "swiss" rounds of deckbuilding, with eight people from each pod advancing to the single elimination bracket.
*To advance from your pod, you must be among the top eight highest scoring competitors between the two rounds!
*The single elimination bracket will be seeded based on the scores earned in the "swiss." This will account for any disparity between the pods in strength.
*For these rounds, the format that you will be working under is Diamond and Pearl-on.
Here is PRELIMINARY information pertaining to your submissions, and what I will do with them (i.e. this isn't set in stone):
Writeups
*As always, you do not have to do a WRITEUP on your submitted entry; you can send in the list by itself and that will be fine. However, people who articulate the finer points of their submissions (i.e. they thoroughly describe, in a concise manner, the deck's core components, synergy/card use, creative/unique elements, etc).
*Make your deck list CLEAR from any writeup that you do.
*Do NOT write an essay on your deck! I will have over 250 entries to sort through, so...reading 250 novels is not what I want to do. Keep your responses to a 500 word limit (excluding deck lists).
*You will be docked one (1) point if you go over the word limit of 500, and from there, will be docked an extra point for every 100 words you go over (example: 501 words= 1 lost point, 601= 2 lost points, etc). Don't freak yourselves out about this limit...Just stay on topic, and be concise.
After the submission deadline...
*No late entries under any circumstance. If you have some kind of emergency that leads to you not sending in an entry...Well, that's more important, so go live life.
*Late entries/no entries will earn zeros.
*When I am finished grading all the competitors of a pod, I will post the score of each person in that pod for the round. After round two, I will post competitors' scores for the round, as well as their overall score before I cut to 64.
*None of the entries for the first two rounds will receive writeups from me; rather, I will only score them.
*I will not post all 250+ entries; rather, I will pick the very best of each round to showcase top competitors/give aspiring deck builders an example to follow.
