Alakazam 4 X - Your thoughts?

Well I just wanted to know what everyone thought about this broken magician. I made my first SP deck just because I wanted to try and fit in this guy. I personally believe he will be a great staple in all SP decks. I mean it's pretty frustrating to just uselessly attack the active poke just to have it switched to a Crobat G and have poketurned right off while giving you more damage.

Manectric PL is probably going to be necessary in decks running ZamX since you get OHKO sniped by Flygon so easily.

If you can find a way around Flygon, this guy is a beast.

I like to play him with Turtwig GL. Move up to 6 damage counter to Turtwig, trigger Overgrow, and remove the damage as if it weren't there, I like the combo a lot.

OHKO's and Flygon kinda mess you up though, but if played right, this guy will just be a beast

Meh, you'd have to Poketurn whatever you move the damage to, as Krow G could just snipe it for an easy prize.

Doesn't really impress me right out of the gate.

IMO prolly the best Lv. X out of the new set. Yeah, Flygon can give it a hard time, but any other deck your opponent pretty much needs to score OHKO's for prizes, at least for such a chunk of the game that by the time you're running out of options to get rid of damage you should be far enough ahead anyyways. I mean, what else besides Flygon really gives it trouble? Still, there's Manectric, as said. And if played with Palkia, Mesprit's power locking really slows down the Stage 2 Lv. X.

Zam will really influence the format. It's negating spread decks and people need to start figuring out ways to get heavy damage in fast.

Fact is, Flygon isn't really the main threat to this card. Anything that OHKO's your poke's are threats to this card. When there's no damage to move because your SP's don't have enough HP to stand up to Gallade, Ttar, Machamp, Flygon (not level'd up) etc, Alakazam 4 is useless. Not to mention that the power lets you move 1 damage counter as often as you like per turn.

That means that for each damage counter you move, TTar gets an energy out of the discard pile.

^Very good point Austino about Darkness Drive. Hadn't thought of that one. May just be one more reason to go back to T-tar. ;)

Wait, Alakazam only lets you move 1 damage counter? I obviously need to go read

EDIT:I think it is used as any other "as often as you like during your turn" power, you move 1 damage counter, as many times as a I want

Example:Kazam has 3 on it, I use the power as often as I want to move those 3 damage counters to another SP Pokemon

I think it really comes down to using it appropriately depending what you're up against. You may want to consolidate damage on one Pokemon to protect others against "if X has any damage counters..." attacks, or spread damage thin to help absorb spread attacks. It also makes healing cards more effective against spread attacks.

It might not be Best Card, but it sounds like fun to play.

We are aware of this, he was pointing out each use of this power only moved one damage, triggering Tyranitar's body multiple times.

I can see a number of ways to get super creative with this card. There are a bunch of cards where putting damage counters on them rewards you. Then move those damage counters to something like Dusknoir (SF) or Blastcatty (PT). I'm sure there are other possible creative uses.

only thing I can think of Alakzam is using him in a healing deck, other than that hes practically useless. His attacks are mediocre and his hit points are meh... Too many Gengar decks roaming around to actually KO Alakazam before he gets another chance to last another turn.

Question is when the power says "As often as you like" and somone tries to use power spray. Does that stop you from using that Pokemon Power for one turn?
