How was the Vendor At Nats?

Expensive prices on not so great cards, kind of rude also. I asked if the sleeves were legal he said yes, I ordered them, and he gave it to the cashier and I got in line. After purchasing them, I look at them closer and see that they are shiny. I then ask right then and there if I could get my money back, he said no, we are to busy to do that. The cashier still had my money in his hand : /

exact same here. i really hated them, except really cheep deck boxes

I think it is a plus that Baltoy was $6, it shows he knows his stuff, that people would need it at the last minute, and he should have every right to demand that much.

The packs were $2.50. Hallelujah. The boxes were also fair, about $80.

I bought some singles to complete League decks and thought the prices were fair. I got about what I expected for promos, holos, and rares, but I got significantly less than what I expected for my (un)commons. Granted, some of them probably weren't in mint condition, but I got less than half of what I anticipated. Going from one of the posts above, that if he sees a few cards not in mint, it's assumed that none of them are, that makes sense, and also, I can't complain about getting ANY money for him taking all those useless-to-me cards off my hands.

Every right to take advantage of desparate people? Not morally right, that's for sure!

You're too young to realize that those of us who work retail would have been reprimanded if we treated customers the way he did.

yoyo, his price guide doesn't say anything about the cards being mint. :/

Thankyou shadow card, well since i work in a grocery store and i ma sometimes a head CC Customer service comes first before anything that u are selling. My store and i will admit this has way higher prices then the other stores in my area do but people always come back because of our customer service. nuff said GG learn to teach your empolyes some

I only had two experiences with them, but both of them were bad.
I needed a card to complete my deck so of course I go to buy one. The price was a little more than what I had wanted to pay, but I was desperate so I decided it was worth it. I had no problem with the price. As some guy was getting the card, I asked how much more the holo ones were (for which I had to clarify were the shiny ones) and he said they were the same price. I asked if I could instead have a holo one and he quickly replied with "no.... you get the one that we give to you..." Already somewhat offended, I head over to the register. No one else was in line. The woman at the register immediately starts ringing up someone else's cards. I tell her that those aren't mine and she throws up her hands in frustration and starts muttering about how busy she is. After this I decided not to buy from them again. However, my girlfriend wanted to stop by before we left on Sunday. She picked out a couple of things and also decided to buy a deck box. We went to the register to pay and the woman (same one) put in everything correctly, but then forgot to grab the box for her. Savannah then kindly asked her to get it for her, and the woman flat REFUSED to get it. She once again started muttering how busy she was and how much we were bothering her. Eventually, we were able to ask one of the guys to grab it but we were both offended that we couldn't get our product after paying for it.

Overall, I wouldn't suggest buying from them. You're supposed to make the customer feel as if they were the only one, and that definitely wasn't the case with GG.

o m g

i am utterly appalled at the stories of this place.

Let me say this.

this lady, whoever she is, is DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARN lucky she did not treat me like this.

I am MOST defiantly not the type of person who would put up with this.

LADY I DONT CARE HOW BUSY YOU "THINK" YOU ARE, YOU DONT TREAT CUSTOMERS IN SUCH A RUDE, UN-PROFESSIONAL PUBLIC MANOR.

I AM AN IT SUPPORT ADMINISTRATOR, AND THERE ARE JUST 5 OF US FOR A 8000 USER LEVEL ENVIRONMENT. I MOST guarantee YOU I AM BUSIER THEN YOU EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE, HOWEVER I STILL HAVE TO WARE A SHIRT + TIE AND ACT VERY VERY PROFESSIONAL.

I am a 300lb 6'2 ex-football player, I bench 350. you WILL not disrespect me to my face, or will will come to words.

Its also a good thing I didnt notice them treating kids this way, cause yeah, I would just as angry if I saw kids being treated this unfair.

Some of the things that are being reported are outright iligal

BUSINESS CANT REFUSE REFUNDS ON PRODUCTS, IF SO THEY MUST STATE THIS AHEAD OF TIME. IF YOU THINK I'M WRONG, GO CONSULT THE BETTER BUSINESS BURROW.

BUSINESS CANT REFUSE TO GIVE YOU PRODUCT THAT YOU PAYED FOR. THATS CALLED STEALING.

If gathering grounds sees this. Look guys. I was not there, however if you read the gym at all, there were over 1000 people there.

There have been over 300 AT LEAST complaints that I have read on you guys.

How many would it take for you to wake UP! and see that you guys carried yourselves in a very un-professional manor.

and yes this VERY VERY VERY easily could have been solved by haveing 2+ stores

2+ stores give you SOOOOOOOOOOOO many options

- more of every product, so you wont run out.

-competitive prices.

- fair/kind and professional business people, casue they KNOW they have competition.

- Better selection

1 store only is considered a Monopoly people, plain and simple. What if there was only Microsoft? Or only Intel? or only GMC?

yes, this is a smaller venue, but the Macro economic principal still apply to the micro example.

TO SUM THIS UP
:nonono::nonono::nonono::nonono::nonono::nonono::nonono::nonono:

Prime, have you considered the complaints that came around last year after Origins? I know there were quite a few of them then.

I am confident that there will always be complaints. No location is perfect, and no location will please everyone.

I don't mind if next year's Nats is just like this year's Nats, even if GG is the only vendor. It wasn't that bad. If you couldn't find food, there were options. I found a flyer for someone who would pick up food for you anywhere in STL and deliver it to your hotel for less than $6. If you didn't like GG's prices, you didn't have to buy the item. I bought items I felt were worth it, and I respectfully didn't buy the items I felt were not worth it. If you couldn't find fun things to do around the area, you could ask in the lobby. I found out that the Holiday Inn has a free shuttle that will take you to different locations downtown, including the Arch.

There will be problems with every location, and it is how you work around those problems that determine how your trip goes. I'm sure for those that couldn't find a way around the problems, their trip was lousy.

Well Reading from the Post in the thread it seems like they weren't ready for the 1500 people at nats this year
I'm a positive guy, so im thinking that next year they will come back a little more organized.

And "Price Jacking" IMHO is never cool. if 5 playmats sell out fast on friday then on saturday they Should sell out again, if the opening price is $5 then that is an acceptable profit, which is why the price is set at $5. IMHO

But who will be the vendors at worlds?

All they did was estimate supply and demand the first day. The demand schedule exceeded the supply schedule, and they adjusted the price according. That's simple economics.

I don't think anyone can complain about their prices, inasmuch as that GG can point to the sheer amount of inventory that flew out of their boxes at the prices they were selling for.

My experience with the Gathering Ground over the weekend was overwhelmingly positive. I sold a bunch of cards back Friday morning for a great price with no problems, and the rest of my transactions throughout the weekend were equally painless. I would have preferred multiple vendors, but I thought the Gathering Ground did a great job. I love a lot of the other game stores around St. Louis, but I really appreciated a vendor who was able to buy cards in bulk.

Furthermore, although I felt a little rushed when I was at the front of the line buying things, I appreciate that the staff did their best to keep the lines moving as quickly as possible, especially in the mad rushes Friday and Saturday mornings.

The prices I saw weren't any more than a regular card shop's prices- and consdering the location, promptness, and overhead- the prices were good IMO. Changing the prices on a daily basis shows that the owner is smart, capable, and pays attention to how his product moves. It's not price jacking; it's economics.

They likely started at 5 because that's all they could be sold for, or because there were a lot of them, or for an infinite number of other reasons.

Before people start casting stones, remember that for every displeased customer, there are likely a hundred satisfied customers- we just aren't hearing it because it's easier to post a complaint than a compliment.

Their lines moved insanely fast for the volume of customers, they bought all the product at the prices they advertised, they had an extensive inventory, they had pretty good prices on a lot of things (a few high points that catch our eyes is a psychological bias- we will ignore the good prices and pay attention to things that upset us) especially boxes and sleeves, and I personally didn't see any poor customer relations in the 30 or so combined minutes I was in the room.

If you received less than stellar customer service, then that is unfortunate- I am sure that Jason, the guy who runs GG, would not want a dissatisfied customer. E-mail him or something, as he has posted his e-mail numerous times.

It costs SO much more money to create a new customer than to maintain an existing customer, and for someone who will likely vend at more tournaments, I am positive that Jason will do nothing but want to rectify any bad situations and only improve the future. I think for the kind of environment and situation they were put in that GG did a good job. I was honestly expecting higher prices, less product, and for them to stop buying- but they surprised me.

This seems like the same kind of arrogant, self-centered view that got the supposed person these complaints. It seems pretty hypocritical to chastise a person for claiming they are busy, and then to come here and confidently claim how you are busier, but would be less rude than her in a situation you've only heard one side of.

I am a 300lb 6'2 ex-football player, I bench 350. you WILL not disrespect me to my face, or will will come to words.

Is size supposed to scare someone? You going to hit a woman? You going to physically assault someone for poor customer service? You going to intimidate someone with your size? Pick on the wrong guy, or try to assault the wrong person and you could find your 300lb body succumbing to a 3 gram bullet.

I could care less about someone's size. The only size that matters is the size of the shell or the lawsuit. You can be 400 pounds- hit me and you're going to pay for my law school! Violence and intimidation are downright barbaric and stupid. You won't accomplish anything other than making yourself look stupid and brutish, and costing yourself a lot of money and likely time in jail.

Can you atleast answer what should be done about the fact they sold boot leg Pokemon games?
It is in Half JPN and half ENG with so many translation errors?
Also Prices where good from my point of view, so I give them props on that, plus some rare stuff priced good.

I agree on that.
No matter what never threat or mistreat the worker.

http://pokegym.net/forums/showpost.php?p=1441542&postcount=46]Sorry[/url] I have not looked at this in a few days... been super busy just preparing for the convention. I did want to address a few questions, please let me know if I have left something out -

Our store will be closed Friday - Sunday so anything you might want you after Thursday you will need to purchase at Nationals. We will be open an HOUR before the start of the event each day.

The cards we are buying must be MINT. Please do not refer to our buylist on our website. It has not been updated in over a year and we are actually buying things for a higher price at Nationals than on our everyday buylist. So, if you are looking to get the most money for your cards it would be smart to do so during this event.

POP cards will be counted as commons. ALL reverse Holo's will be bought for the same price, regardless of rarity. Obviously the better Level X and Ex's will be bought for more than the bulk price.

Again, I see some people seem extremely "concerned" as to what we will be buying or selling stuff at... I have tried to lay a general list out to ease some of these concerns. However, I am aware that there will always be those who want to find something to complain about. To these people - I can not say it enough - If for some reason you do not agree with the prices that are offered or you do not want to sell them - PLEASE DO NOT SELL THEM. There really is no need for any negativity or defensive presumptions as if we are out to try and take advantage of anyone. Our reputation is way too important to us to do something like that. Yes, we are in business to make money but at a FAIR rate. We are not out to gouge anyone.

Also, we will be selling our singles at our website prices. These will be freshly updated by no later than Wednesday night. So, you will have NO surprises as to what any card will cost you at Nationals.

Please respond with any further questions and I will try and get back to you ASAP.

Thanks,
Jason

1. The guy who got .01 instead of .02: you're lucky they bought them, as they said they wouldn't, and it's usually not profitable to buy them.
2. 6 Baltoy guy: they obviously mismarked them. He said they were matching the website prices. Ever think to ask the person why it was so high? Or to look on the website? I think it's a bit presumptuous for so many to jump to the conclusion that this place is price gouging.
3. A lot of what is being posted should be taken with a grain of salt. This is at best second hand information, sometimes third hand information. Exaggeration, estimation, etc. can easily occur.
4. Sometimes there are just immediate personality clashes. I've worked in the service industry for 5 years or so, and when you have customers you are having a conversation with, you can sometimes clash. Or they clash. or you both clash. Or a miscommunication.

By all means, state what happened and state the facts. I am sure that there were some mistakes and mistreatments- it's so improbable for a business not to do that. That's unfortunate. Do what any customer should do in this situation, where the vendor could be at major events you may go to, and you will likely deal with them in the future- talk to the person in charge. If they don't rectify the situation, go higher. Any successful business will have one person who will eventually understand that it's just never in their interest to lose a customer. This is a business, guys. Small business owners depend on a particular group of customers. You don't think the owner or manager would want everyone to be satisfied? Give the like, 3 people working 11 hours a day for 5 days for hundreds of customers a little leeway. At least to the people who did not directly have a problem with them. Only post YOUR experiences with them. Hearsay does nothing.

I live in St. Louis, and I used to go to the Gathering Ground for other tournaments, such as Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic, but stopped, since the employees are rude, the prices are jacked way high, and it's just poor service overall. Now, before I stopped going there, I went there for a good two years, since there was no other place to go to play in tournaments that was close enough.

Trust me guys, most card venders around here aren't like that, just them from what I've seen.

This seems like the same kind of arrogant, self-centered view that got the supposed person these complaints.

"supposed person"?? these aren't made-up people! We're not talking about Daffy Duck here, we're talking about the cashier.

It seems pretty hypocritical to chastise a person for claiming they are busy, and then to come here and confidently claim how you are busier, but would be less rude than her in a situation you've only heard one side of.

Hypocritical is the wrong word sir, look it up!

A hypocrite would be someone who chastised a person for being rude as they were busy, then turn around and be Rude yourself WHILE YOUR ARE BUSY.

I said just the opposite sir!

Is size supposed to scare someone? You going to hit a woman?

where the heck did you get that from? who said anything about hitting? I'm pretty sure my post said "words". man your mind jumps to weird places!

You going to physically assault someone for poor customer service? You going to intimidate someone with your size? Pick on the wrong guy, or try to assault the wrong person and you could find your 300lb body succumbing to a 3 gram bullet.

Ryan. First off sir, I don't "pick" on anyone, I'm not immature (are you?)

However I don't allow myself to be pushed around either.

Why would you even say something like that? do you feel self-conscious or something?

do you pick on people?

do you pick on kids?

I don't know who you think you are, but if I was such a "bad guy" do you think I would volunteer my only free time, 2 days every week to run a pokemon league for kids?

I could care less about someone's size. The only size that matters is the size of the shell or the lawsuit. You can be 400 pounds- hit me and you're going to pay for my law school! Violence and intimidation are downright barbaric and stupid. You won't accomplish anything other than making yourself look stupid and brutish, and costing yourself a lot of money and likely time in jail.

Ryan, completely uncalled for sir.

I was in no way, directing my comments to or about you. Why do you feel the need to to jump in.

.3g bullet? r u kidding me? did you just threaten me with a deadly weapon?

Law school? for someone who wants to attend law school, you should know that there is a huge difference between force, and deadly force.

For instance, depending on what state you live in, you are NOT justified for shooting an attacker who is unarmed, even if they are attacking you. You must meet force with an appropriate level of force. Man, maybe you do need law school after all.

Lastly why are you defending this woman? This woman, who yells and intimidates kids.

Prime - 60 posts in this tread. What about these threads.

No, you were spouting hearsay and opinion. You didn't have a problem with a female cashier. Others were talking about a specific individual, you were speculating and exaggerating.

.3g bullet? r u kidding me? did you just threaten me with a deadly weapon?

lol? How is that a threat? I'm not involved at all. I am stating a fact- size doesn't matter. Posting you are 300+ pounds is stupid.

but if I was such a "bad guy" do you think I would volunteer my only free time, 2 days every week to run a pokemon league for kids?
Don't know why you put "bad guy" in quotes. You're probably a great guy. I've never met you. I can't judge your character. Most people who play this game, and most people who volunteer with this game are very nice people, and I am sure you are one of those nice people.

Law school? for someone who wants to attend law school, you should know that there is a huge difference between force, and deadly force.

Duh? I never said you were? I never said shooting someone was every justified? I stated that trying to use force on the wrong individual could backfire.

Lastly why are you defending this woman? This woman, who yells and intimidates kids.

This woman who SUPPOSEDLY yells and intimidates kids. You're reacting based on hearsay and speculation and second-hand accounts. You have no room to make any judgment or comments.

I am defending this person not to be judged by people who weren't there lol.

I have nothing against you. I'm just saying we should not be so hasty to cast stones when many of us were not there, or did not receive first-hand negative accounts. I apologize if I came off as mean or snide. I was just trying to make a point that violence on any level is a bad idea and only comes off negatively, and can usually have really bad ramifications.

Why would you even say something like that? do you feel self-conscious or something?

do you pick on people?

do you pick on kids?
Why would I say trying to assault someone is dumb, when size is normally irrelevant? I don't know, because it's true?
Am I self-conscious? Of what? I am 5'11'', 180 pounds. Great shape, 21 years old, I am definitely not self-conscious.

I understand you feel attacked and feel the need to attack me in snide little ways, by saying I really DO need law school (anyone who wants to practice law needs to go to law school... duh), and that I am self-conscious or pick on people- but let's cut it out now.
