Consider this...

2009 US Nationals - Midwest

2009 Worlds - West Coast

2010 US Nationals - TBD

2010 Worlds - Hawaii

What's missing?

EAST COAST.

PUI, this is real simple.

PUT US NATIONALS 2010 ON THE EAST COAST!

Making the East Coast go (at least) 2 years without a major event is nothing short of ridiculous.

  Now you're talking!!!

Choices are:

New York, NY (Maybe invite only)
Washington DC
Nashville, TN
Atlanta,GA
Columbus,OH

But anyway you're right the east coast needs nats.

I wonder if it is more expensive to get a room of necessary size, or several rooms in close proximity, on the east coast.

US Nationals won't leave the Midwest. The reasons have been stated thousands of times before on this forum; there is little reason to enumerate them again.

So, assuming that Nats is in the midwest, we're looking at East Coast events being, at best...

2008 Worlds
2011 Worlds

3 years between events in the region with the largest US population is unacceptable.

Idk why you would move nats away from the "middle" of the country.
Although, I would like to visit somewhere on the east coast[as I have never been past ohio lol].

Anywhere other than ST Louis..
That was a totally mess up.
No place to eat on the weeding, outrageously long lines.
Hilton being like FAR from center.
Over ALL dead city other than the baseball games.

There was a time when people thought Pokemon would not leave Origins for reasons stated thousands of times before. And then it happened.

Decoupling from Origins was a business decision due to their failures. That has not altered the philosophy of what region to keep Nationals in. That is a much stronger goal than whether or not to remain attached to a convention that happens to be in the region.

How long can the East Coast be ignored?

If Nationals is going to stay in the midwest then the next opportunity for the East Coast to have an event would be Worlds 2011.

Worlds 2008 - Orlando

Next event....

Worlds 2011 - somewhere on the east coast.

MAYBE.

It's very possible/likely that Worlds 2011 would be somewhere else, then we're looking at FOUR years between events on the East Coast.

Considering the population of the East Coast, this doesn't sound like a smart business decision.

Toss these around

I think Hershey, PA or Mystic, Connecticut would be nice family places in the NE. I have always thought that the Mall of America would be great, too! Just mho.

Stop lobbying to have it at your own houses.

The East Coast deserves a major event. Nationals should be that event.

Nats next year will be in St Louis. There was very good attendance last year. The facility was outstanding for the event and there were plenty of hotels in easy walking distance of the event.

Although our family will not be attending Nationals next year due to the cost of attending Worlds in Hawaii, I am sure eveyone who goes to St Louis in 2010 will have a wonderful time.

how about new mexico (it is not where i live) but there are soo many places to go in nm, albrequrque (where the event should be held) then carlsbad caverens and so many places
