Is this card gone in the new format change

roseannes research gone?
It was in op8 so is it gone?
Also when will this change start?

I was looking for someone to discuss this issue, the forum and the mod:nonono: closed it without much discusison allowed. Is the mod into the new journalism? This is an interesting issue, and I yes, we know it's isn't likely to change.. Let's discuss.

Anyways, the format isn't MD on, since OP8 and OP9 weren't included. (Was OP7 released after MD)

The most pertainent 2 cards we lose because of no OP8 was Night Maintenance and Roseannes. I will miss them both. But they could have easily included them in the format.

No, they made the right decision. They put those cards in P8 because they wanted to make it easier for players to get the cards. However they still were orginally from sets that were rotated. It is no different that the league Claydol promo not being legal after the rotation. Yes it has the GE set symbol but the fact is in Japan to my knowledge those cards weren't reprinted. They were but just for P8 over here. So they decision just keeps the consistency of previous choices.

No.
POP series count on their own when checked whether a card is legal or not (see 2008 where a POP set spoiled a whole Professor Cup). I don't know if POP 8 was released before or after MD, but if it was after MD it should be included in the format.

But I think they want to get rid of these sets because they're not distributing them any more, so new players can't get the cards inside.

POP 8 was released after MD (See Tower), also POP 7 was right before MD.

NM and Roseanne is a cards that are general enough that they go into storage, just waiting to see the light of day.
(ALA, VS Seeker, Reversals, Plus Powers, ELM's, and DCE).

A few years ago(rotations ago), POP packs KEEP TV Reportor legal, even though the format "SET" rotated them out. Thus the precendent was there.

You misunderstood what I said. The cards that he is asking to be kept in the format, were reprinted in P8, but NEVER reprinted in Japan. Yes P8 is a different set, but because in Japan they weren't reprinted, the right move was to rotated them when the set rotated. If I gave a bad example to try to explain this, then I'm sorry, but I thought it got my point across.

I don't remember that at all. I know that the card was in DF so maybe that set was legal or was going to be released when P2 was kept legal? If so that would make perfect sense. The fact that TV Reporter was reprinted at all, doesn't mean that there was a chance that they knew it was going to be rereleased. However, I don't really remember when P2 was released so I can say with 100% certainty.

Doesn't Japan have a different format than us anyways so it doesn't matter if they aren't reprinted or not right? LMK if this is wrong

NM is a general card, but Roseanne's is not general at all. I wouldn't expect to see Roseanne's again for a long time.

Roseanne is a D/P/Pt character, and the current marketing is based around HGSS and soon Black and White. Unless another card is printed with the same effect, Roseanne's will probably never come back until we see something like a Sinnoh themed set in the middle of another block (ala Unseen Forces) or new Sinnoh based video games. You can't really compare themed cards like Roseanne to general things like Vs Seeker, Reversal, Plus Power, Warp Point, DCE , etc. Elm's is not a general card either, the only reason it came back was because we moved back to a Johto theme.

Actually, Roseanne's was reprinted once in Japan as a holo Black Star promo. If I recall, it was a Battle Roads prize.

Yes, that's right. With making the format MD-on, it definitely is different than in Japan, because their sets "Night Dashing / Moon Hunting" have been splitted to Great Encounters and Majestic Dawn in the rest of the world. I guess Japan is not going to allow a part of a set and ban the other part, so we don't have the same format as in Japan no matter what happens.

There was next to no feasible way to synch up with Japan this year. If we did rotate PL-on our Platinum also has cards borrowed from a different set, Intense Fight in the Destroyed Sky, Japan's equivalent to Stormfront.
