After reading report after report over the last couple of years, I keep seeing how common first turn donks are. In my opinion the answer is simple let turn 1 player play supporters. Is there anything I'm missing, because I don't see where this would give the turn 1 player any sort of big advantage.

the rules before the D/p are much more balanced than the current rules.I hope they change the entire game rule asap once black&white cards are released

T1 Judge is bad.

So is so many turn 1 donks also let me point out with a turn 1 judge

-You can't play any other supporters and already no trainers,

your still no more set up than your opponent, (and they get to draw and use supporters/trainers) whats the best case scenerio you open with Call and Judge?

I like this idea. Not only does it lessen the chances of turn 1 wins, but it also balances out the huge advantage going 2nd brings even if they aren't threatening to donk.

Doesn't this just make donks more likely?

I mean the most notorious donk deck out there is sablelock right now right? They're already going first, now you're giving them a supporter on that turn as well? Seems bad.

But I do think going first should be good again.

Why not make the first turn for both players the same as it is for the person going first now? Though I guess I've contradicted myself here, pointing out that sablelock goes first, and eliminating supporters and trainers from the opponent of said deck will only ensure more donks.

But how does this solve it? This just means P1 gets a better chance at a donk. Games where one player doesn't even get a turn don't seem all that fun.

Ambipom G, Double Colorless, good game. Already seen that twice this BR cycle without P1 having supporter ability. Imagine the fun to be had if they can play Interviewer's Questions first turn.

Start with sableye eye and a dark energy.
T1 collector for three crobats.

Impersontate?

yea I'll give you this, it could/would be a problem. Question is it more of a problem than what we have now?

Do you really believe Luxchomp will start playing Interview Question just for this off the wall chance. The odds of this happening are so incredibly slim, I'm not saying it won't happen. But lets look at this,

Player has to...

-When the die roll
-Open with Abipalm
-Open with Interview Question (If they open with DRE than it would have happened either way)
-Get a DCE off the 8 cards

The best was to prevent donks wouldve been a reasonable rotation. Platinum on and the only real donker left woudlve been jumpluff, and jumpluff without uxie and claydol wouldve had issues to donk someone. Or just BAN UXIE...

If they would care about this they woudlve chosen another rotation, so you beter dont expect too much...

I'd have to agree with this post :p

Let people play all the T/S/S they want to t1, but during the first turn of the game, prevent alle effects of attacks (including damage) done to the defending pokemon. This way, no donks will occur (other than hoppip/ unown Q and 3 bats), and people can still use DG, impersonate, mimic w/e setup attacks you kids use these days..

uh, what about Shuppet, Donphan Prime, Ambipom, Kingdra Prime, Garchomp C?

I like the idea of simply preventing damage from attacks, idk about the T/S/S on the first turn though, but the damage preventing clearly stops donks. Although, I'm afraid it eliminates donks, and is something the card developers don't want to do, it is an archetype.

Imo t1 judge is hyped into something it wouldn't be able to live up to, because the handsize will go like this. player 2 sets up, draws the initial 7 and plays 2 basics, to avoid being donked. now he has 5 cards, player 1 then judges, now he's at 4. P1 does whatever he does for the rest of his turn, p2 draws, and now has 5 cards in his hand again. Really, not that big a deal.

I'm definitely in agreement of first turn supporters. It's ridiculous how the first player can't do anything except attach an energy, and pass - most of the time, that energy has to be Call for you to live through the game. Meanwhile, the second player can go to town and wreck you before you've had a chance to do much of anything. I don't care about this whole T1 Judge crap, I'd be willing to suffer that if it meant I could play Collector/Rose/SOMETHING to grab pokes on t1.

It shouldn't feel like a punishment to go first, period. That's what it feels like, at least to me, because of the lack of being able to do much of anything.

This could work in a format without Sableye.

But Sableye would abuse this rule so much. Like it's been previously stated, you could get Crobats, or you could judge impersonate an initiative, other things like that.

^ the problem both with the current rules & the issues being brought up with T1 Supporters being allowed is the Pokemon.

Specific pokemon like Kingdra, Machamp, Jumpluff, Ambipom G, Crobat G, Sableye, and more are the things that cause the real issue. You can change the T1 going first rules, but until we have less speedy attackers, damage via powers, and such there will still be plenty of donks. The sad thing is that going back to x2 weakness actually makes it worse instead of better.

Shuppet without Uxie? Enjoy... Donphan, who gets donked by donhan seriously :/? Ambipom happens but its not a strategy. Kingdra without Uxie/Claydol/Kingdra La? Garchomp C can donk?

Sure donks will happen but it wont be that common anymore. Donks have existet forever, blastoise ex & 4 water energy anyone?
