Revived Mightyena Deck

I used to run a Mightyena deck but then stopped with the sudden swarms of SP decks running Dialga G Lv.X but now I want to change all of that.

4-4 Mightyena (Platinum)
2 Houndoom G
3 Skuntank G
3 Honchkrow G

2 Warp Point
1 Pokemon Contest Hall
4 Broken Time-Space
1 Champion's Room
1 Palmer's Contribution
2 Bebe's Search
4 Professor Oak's New Theory
1 Energy Gain
3 Poketurn
2 SP Radar
3 Pokemon Collector
2 Pokemon Communication
2 Cyrus Initiative
4 Seeker

4 Rescue
2 SP Energy
6 Dark Energy

Strategy: Use Honchkrow and Poochyena to get myself set up with Honcho's Command and Howl. Quickly get a Mightyena set up with a Skuntank on the bench as well as a Stadium of mine in play then use Poison Structure to get Mightyena poisoned so he can start hitting hard for a potential 80 for nothing. Houndoom G is for the Dialga G Lv.X counter as well as helps stall by forcing my opponent's Pokemon to remain active unless they use a Switch, Warp Energy, or Warp Point.

This deck still does pretty good, but I know it's going to have a lot of trouble up against Gyarados decks as well as Fighting decks (as most of my deck is weak to fighting). Any suggestions on how to fix that?

I think this deck lacks some serious speed. And whats up with all that energy? You shouldnt run more then 8 - Mightyena attacks for 0 anyway.
TGHQ and Champions Room dont do a lot for you. Broken Timespace will help you get Mightyena up and running faster. Contest Hall for a secondary stadium in case they play BTS before you. More Poketurn, Collector, less Flint, more Palmer. Also add Uxies - they'll give you the speed you'll need.

Champion's Room actually does a lot for me. It gives most of my deck free retreat (saving those energy!) while TGHQ is just there because I can't seem to find my other Champion's Room. Though Pokemon Contest Hall will help and I'll take out a Dark Energy for that. Poketurn's I'm trying to get, Collector amount I have seems to work just fine for me though I'll toy around with another one, Flint I'm slightly hesitant since it can get a SP Pokemon up and ready to go, and I'll definitely throw in a Palmer once I can find it.
Uxies are something I'm probably not going to put in since nobody seems to be trading theirs here and I don't have any money to buy online.

*Deck to be revised ASAP*

Alright, revised the deck and I'm throwing in one BTS to see how well it does (plus I only have one BTS)

This is so gonna get moved to deck help and strategy..

In all helpfulness, you don't need Aaron's collection. Palmer's is your recovery. Initiative is not needed, and you need 4 bts with less of the weaker stadiums. Contest hall is ideal.

First of all, I have always loved to play Mightyena decks. This love faded when i actually ran into actual top tier decks. So now, i enjoy playing it casually against things not Gyarados, Luxchomp, Machamp, any trainer lock variants, anything with Umbreon UD, etc.

I hate to break it, but the only kind of mightyena deck that can survive in a metagame dominated by Dialga G LVL X (your deck is crippled severely) Gyrados (tanks your hits and 1HKO's you) and even some Machamp variants or donphan (both basically 1HKO Mightyena) is a high speed variant - and in all honesty even then it struggles to compete. Having a stadium in YOUR control for skuntank to activate is harder than it looks, and mightyena poisoning itself just to be able to do an attack for sub par damage (especially gyarados or pokemon with no energy) is really unfortunate and really cannot be played around. After trying a variety of speed variants, I have noticed that the most successful one was when i ran a 4-4 Mightyena PT line with 4 Jirachi RR and 4 judges with detour to refresh your hand for hopefully nabbing a BTS T1 while simultaneously praying that you locked your opponent (and not yourself) with a bad four card draw

Bottom line is, mightyena decks might compete ok, but not consistently in the early game, and then mid to late game the uh, grimer hits the fan so to say.

EDIT: Sorry for the depressing advice. If you still want to try to pull this off, i HIGHLY recommend running rescue energy and 4 BTS and things such as pokedex handy to help mill through your deck for the specific cards this deck requires at specific times. BTS is sorely needed for mightyena to maybe donk in the beginning. Although it usually has problems doing more than 50 damage to pokemon without energy on it (common early game). Expert belt is suicide in Mightyena, definitely not advised unless you are using one for the win.

@ Hippowdon: Aaron was just there for a spot filler. I'll put in 2 more BTS. Cyrus though is for a bit of disruption. Also, I'm surprised that nobody has moved this yet (yes, I realized that I posted this in the wrong forum quite a while ago)

@ Jand: Because Nidoqueen will take a bit to get set up and speed is supposed to be the name of the game here.

@ sToRm: So basically be running an Uxie donk deck without the Uxies and with BTS. And I know E-Belt is suicide, hence why I don't use it in this deck. Also I know that Mightyena has a tough time with the Gyarados match-up, hence the last part of the first post where it asks if people have a remedy to this deck's vulnerability to Gyarados and fighting typed decks.

yes, a trainer based engine is vital. You need uxie still. In fact, you need two! XD I would also say 4 collectrs and a regice tech just in case you are going against a spiritomb start... regi-move destroys spiritomb lock unless they have two. :thumb:

Against gyarados? Well, you basically are screwed. But teching in a de-evoluter or two is somewhat effective.

Basically, you HAVE to outspeed gyarados at first - which will simply be almost impossible against SpeedDos, but more of a chance against Set-upDos.

Bottom line, if you do not beat out a gyarados in prize count at first, you will nearly have an autoloss with Mightyena.

In the most ideal of situations - two mighteyenas = one gyarados. so you definitely need to swarm with resuce energy / pokemon rescue w/e

Hm... *throws old list out the window*

4-4 Mightyena (Platinum)
2 Houndoom G
3 Skuntank G
3 Honchkrow G
2 Uxie
1 Regice

4 Broken Time-Space
4 Pokemon Collector
4 Seeker
2 Bebe's Search
4 Pokedex
1 Palmer's Contribution
4 Dual Ball
2 Poketurn

4 Rescue
4 Dark Energy

So something more like this then?

better, but three skuntank is way too much :p Honchkrow G should probably go down to either 1 or 2... as well as houndoom (1) so you can make room for a more powerful trainer engine, Pokemon communication is a great card for this deck! Warp point is also needed so you can A. recover from bad starts wtihout investing energy or B. you can cheap shot an opposing pokemon after your opponent has to switch out their active that can tank mightyena :]

Also, the most effective combo i have played with for mighteyena is Jirachi RR and Judge. Very disruptive, and you can play out your hand and then detour to judge again. ^^

Good luck but without Nidoqueen it will constantly get revenge KO'd. I played this deck with NIdoqueen at Nationals two years ago. It works fine until you run into a Dialga G X
