Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Medals at Nationals?

This upsets me deeply. I really hope P!P decides to replace this medal stuff SPTs on with trophies next year on. Why on earth did they change in the first place?

I can understand their reasoning for not giving trophies at States, but to take the away from Nationals as well, isn't great. Nationals is one tournament that covers a whole country, if they're happy to give out scholarships and paid Worlds trips, why can't they upgrade the medals to trophies? Doing well at Nationals for a lot of people can be a once in a lifetime achievement, and something that deserves something better then a medal already given out at Cities and States.

Is this a joke? I held my tongue about states as they are fairly small tournies, but quite frankly I even expected regionals to have trophies given their size, much less nats being downgraded to medals. The trophies at worlds must be really nice this year I guess....

You know what?

It's the EVENT that gives the prestige to the prize, not the other way around. A Nats medal means exactly the same thing as a Nats trophy.

Do you think Olympic medal winners sit around wishing they had a glass trophy instead? Because only a glass trophy can properly reward achievement, right?

The trophies are nice but . . . they aren't exactly practical. My Nats trophy sits in its box on a shelf. I've taken it out of the box probably twice since I won it.

It isn't free, Thoy. It's an event that costs P!P money to put on, and it's an event that costs us plenty of money to prepare for (including buying their product, which is de facto admittance).

While I think the medal move for states and even regionals is fine, P!P is making a big mistake by taking away National Championship trophies. It'd honestly be better to have wildly inconsistent designs for domestic/foreign trophies made by different producers than to drop trophies altogether...

Pete argued that the idea of cute kids with medals is good marketing...Which I agree with. But is a national champion proudly hoisting a medal good marketing?

Think about that for a second; put it into a mental image; put the alternative into a mental image; then agree with me.

Somebody call the waaaaaaaaaaaaaambulance.

Its a free tournament, quit your complaning.

Because we can just teleport to Indianapolis, right? The tournament itself maybe free, but we still spend a lot of money to get there/ prepare.

looks like good marketing compared to this http://assets.pokemon.com/assets/cms/img/news/news_th_op_nats10tcgwrap.jpg

the all glass trophies don't photograph well.

My favorite trophy is still the Charizard obelisk, with Luxray a close second. The Luxray's broke far too easily but htey do photograph well.

After they made the change to States and Pete justified it very well, this isn't such a big deal.

It's a change to save a ton of money and they're probably still really cool. Sounds good to me.

It says it's going to be using the MD-on format. Get ready for gyarados with poke catcher and max heal

I have no problem with the medals as long as it's gold for first, silver for 2nd, bronze for 3rd, and wood for 4th

How many Juniors have you seen come to a tournament wearing a Cities Medal?

How many Juniors have you seen come to a tournament carrying their States or National's trophy?

I bet you will see far more medals showing up at tournaments in the future.

Kid: "I want to take my National Trophy to Worlds"
Parent: "No way. It will get broken and it takes up too much room in your suitcase."

versus:
Kid: "I want to take my Nationals Medal to Worlds."
Parent: "Sure! Put it in the suitcase."
