Where in the world did Brock (and Dawn) go?

I just started watching Pokemon Black and White, then I noticed that Brock and Dawn are not anywhere to be found. Or at least Brock because he's always with Ash (and their extra friend) (he did leave once to stay with Professor Ivy, didn't stay long. I wander if he still would curl up in a corner when he heard Ivy's name, you know, if he was still on the show!)

Why would they get rid of Brock? He would always ask out every girl he saw, then get knocked out by a Poison Jab or pulled by the ear by Misty or Max. And if the People running the TV had get rid of a friend of Ash's, why Brock? Why not just Dawn? They got rid of Misty, May and Max.

Now Ash is stuck with Iris.

They wanted to start fresh with pokemon black and White. They also found his act getting kinda old in the show of going up to random girls. So yeah that's why brock isn't in Black and Whie. Plus Team Rocket is much smarter in this series(They're actually not comedy relief but I realthreat).

^ ya Team Rocket have been doing better at getting want they want

and I see why they wanted to take Brock out, they put in another Gym leader (can't remember his name) in the new episode (I think it is) (Just saw it yesterday)

Brock has left because he changed his life's goal. In order to follow his dream now of becoming a Pokémon Doctor, he needs to go back to Kanto and study, study, study!

^and she didn't follow ash around crying about her bike for a few episodes

I actually liked that about Misty. Then at some point she remembered "hey, I started travelling with you because I was mad at you about something... what was it again? OH YEAH!!!"

Besides, when asking questions about the show, one must also recognize the purpose of the show now in comparison to what the show was back in the day. When the show started, it introduced a new world with new concepts that started a trend of people travelling with monster companions that would have epic battles (i.e. Digimon, Monster Rancher, etc). Nowadays, since Pokemon is nothing new, the show has degraded into a series of ongoing gags (Brock's womanizing, Team Rocket blasting off again, Dawn's "no need to worry") that generally captivates the younger generation into the series and introducing them to the games via television marketing. While Black and White seem to correct this issue for the long time fans, it still serves this purpose quite well.

Of course, some people would argue that the show is more than simple marketing to the kids, but realistically it is just that, intended or not. There are kids who are 10 now, watching the new shows, with no idea who Gary Oak is, who Tracy was, or even that Mewtwo was the original super powered legendary. That's because the show doesn't play on its own history or back-story, but rather keeping it fresh and flashy with each generation of fans.

He has a point...man I feel old now >.>

Since BW premiered, Team Rocket is MUCH less comical than in the past.. and they haven't really "blasted off" since the new series iirc.

Yeah. We've watched (and recorded) every episode since the first diamond and pearl (that's when my daughter really got into Pokemon).

First off all, I've noticed that some missing episodes are finding their way onto our DVR.
It seems like they've rushed to release Black/White episodes before they even finished airing SV episodes!

It looks like 4 or so episodes were skipped over and kinda shown here and there (not in regular time slot).

Anyway, the "new Brock" is Cilan who is the "Pokemon Connoisseur " who want to travel with Ash to learn how to get that special connection between trainer and pokemon.

Iris is the "new Dawn" (some say 'new Misty') who is just along for the heck of it.

Team Rocket DOES still blast off (that's how Ash connected with Oshawat 'member?)

The new, darker, team rocket is a change though. They have a new moto and everything and seem to be more formidable right now.

Question: Any one else notice how POWERFUL Ash's new Pokemon are BEFORE he catches them?? Then, they're like bummy when he tries to call them out of their Pokeball and use the in battle? Remember how strong Turtwig was before he caught it? sup with that?

Question: 'sup with Officer Jenny's new haircut and MEGASHORT skirt ??? I almost wanna cover my kid's eyes when Officer Jenny rolls up! I thought Dawn's skirt was short... but Jenny.... c'mon.

Observation: Anyone else see close similarities between the new and old Pokemon ? We were watching Saturaday and identifying them like "oh, that's the new Blissey" "that's the new Crobat" "oh, there's the new Garchomp"

Observation: Is it me or are the new Stage 2s kinda Bakugon-ish ?

just sayin'...

I am happy that the crazy FLAMES around the characters don't happen as much any more. We were kinda spooked that it was all starting to look a little evil there for awhile (and would make new parents say "uh, I don't think I like this show you're watching")

k' that's all I got.

Doesn't everybody know by now that Brock realy just wanted some sort of excuse to disapear because he actually wanted to run off and try to convince Nurse Joy in the Kanto region to marry him?

Yeah they finally got out of those old "Team Rocket" uniforms. Two things that remain the same are Meowth is still running the team and Ash always has a rival "Trip".

I won't lie, I haven't watched any of the new episodes, but the idea of them forcing a big Team Rocket role (it sounds like) into the 5th gen setting is kinda lame...even in the game itself it's mentioned that Team Rocket failed a while back, so this pretty much contradicts everything in those terms...then again, it's not like Team Plasma has the biggest, most evil ambitious plans out there (omg, let your Pokemon be FREE! Or we'll force you!), so I dunno, maybe it could use the more menacing Rocket approach to it.

Well for the team overall that may be the objective, but I'll give credit to Team Plasma for this: the leader manipulating everything (according to the game) is truly evil, even if all his followers are just a bunch of environmentalist cult followers.
