heatran lv. x in a secret wonders booster pack?!

The other day, I was opening a secret wonders booster pack, and pulled out...a promo heatran lv. x? heatran lv. x is from stormfront! and besides that, this one is promo! I should only be able to get it from a stormfront tin. How could this happen? (not that I'm complaining!)

Repacks most likely. I question where you got it. Large department stores and online vendors are notorious for repacking their booster packs. Either that, or it is fake. Make sure it is foil and the symbols and fonts are standard. The bigger question is why you got a SW pack in the first place.

Can you post an image of this card? We should be able to deem fake or not from that.

What do you mean repacking? does target do this?

^Usually, yes. Repacking is taking an open pack and putting cards back into it and then sealing it again. Some people call it resealing or other names... sorry if mine doesn't fit ;D Most of those "wrong set" situations come from bad fakes or repacking. When you want to buy packs, don't buy them unless they look like they have not been tampered with. Usually, you want to avoid buying packs with the cardboard backing that many large stores will include. Also, if they are "blister packs" that are not nintendo packs, they are usually repacked.

That explains why those 'great value' packs of 4 boosters at target didn't contain a single decent card. I bought like 4 of those instead of the normal boosters, so 16 packs i went through. Worst luck I've ever had. (the packs had like 3 holofoils in total)

But on the flipside some of those repacks with 'bonus' cards give me good stuff. Like pop luxrays and other pop holofoils i'm missing.

If you are referring to the ones by (if I remember correctly) Excell Marketing, then I've had 3 complaints at my leagues of people getting fake cards in them. That's why you should always look for the Nintendo/Pokemon copyright on the back of the package before you buy cards, even at places like Target.
And for those that care, the card section at Target is "rented out" to another company that stocks them. So it's not really Target's fault for these repacks, it's whoever that other company is.

I don't understand why you think Target aren't partly responsible? If they're renting out floor space in their own shops, then this is a responsibility they take on by doing that. If they have bad press from people opening repacked booster packs, Target are going to lose sales because of it, not the company they sell the space to.

I remember pulling a palkia DP at the great encounters prerelease, or someone accidentally left one in my pile of prerelease cards.

My advice to all of you is to stop buying booster packs at the big box retailers. They will rip you off, and their deals are subpar to begin with.

Instead, try supporting a local gaming store or a reputable online vendor, such as Anime Forever or Professor-Oak.

I never said they weren't responsable, just that it isn't their fault. Just like on all of the Cops shows where they have the one innocent guy in a car while all of the others are taking drugs. While it's not his fault that the other people are taking drugs, he's still going to get taken in just because he's with them. Sorry that I couldn't think of a better example. :/

Every local game store I've been to sells packs that are WAY over priced. At least you get a decent price from retailers.

And yes, I DO like to support my local gaming stores. I just don't like how they are ripping me off.

Online vendors, on the other hand, have the best prices.

This has never happened to me, and I have shopped at Target quite often.

Though I don't buy those boosters that come with "bonus" cards very often.

One of my local card shops (that's been open for over 10 years) sells packs for $2.50 each, boxes for $75 each and tins for $9 each. And there's no tax on them either. What I've found is that prices in local card/gaming stores can differ greatly depending on where you look. I'm in SoCal if that matters.

Me either. I only bought one once because the "bonus card" was one that I didn't have. And of coarse I didn't get anything good in the packs.

He sells ALL packs at $2.50 and ALL boxes at $75??

With the expenses that stores have to pay for to just keep their doors open, I'm shocked that he can make a profit doing that! There's hardly any margin there.

He only has the more recent packs like Stormfront and up. And I do think that he has RR for a little higher, something like $85 for a box. But appart from that, yeah, he sells all of them at that price.
