Top 50 by ratings.

Sorry, should have made that clear.

EDIT

No need for mass panic or moral outrage. There are no pass downs . . .

Premier Rating invitations are awarded without pass downs as of the 2010 season. This means that players who earn an invitation via a National Championships or who are not opted in to Ratings and Rankings will take one of the invitation slots awarded regardless of their eligibility to collect the invitation.

Wow, I can't seem to stop complaining but really, top "1" at CDN Nats gets the trip? IDK how the trophies being cut have done anything for the game other than benefit the few additional US States. For the record, last year CDN Nats had top "2" get trips and we also had trophies. Not trying to sound offensive but could someone explain to me why this has happened and why it was downgraded from top "2"

Not to say I'm happy about the downgrade in the least, and not to say that Canada doesn't have extra complications, but it was about time Canada got hit in the trip count. Effectively, you guys have been getting 50% of the trips that the United States has for the past three years.

Glad to see it finally announced. About time...

Top 10 APAC passdowns....Hmmm....

S'pose I still need to boost my ratings more :3

Cya at worlds everyone! :D

This.
Getting a trip from an invite in the US is at least 10 times harder than Canada, even though we have 4 times the trips. You basically have to not only be one of the top players, but you also have to be the top player that doesn't hit an autoloss through 5 rounds of top cut.

You're forgetting all those extra rounds at nationals, regionals and even in states gives all the American players a HUGE advantage over Canadians in the ranking invites. Of the top 40, 1 MAYBE 2 are Canadian and usually thats including our national champ.

So in reality US has 43 invites, Canada has 6.

Sure, if you're going straight population, however thats not the case when you're looking at player population

I'm sorry I should have been clearer. The point I was trying to make was that the invites / player base ratio for Canada and the US are similar once you take in to consideration the ranking invites.

I'm not saying at all that we deserve more invites, im just trying to defend the ones we have. I'm still thankfull however that we weren't once again reduced to three invites at nationals.

Does anyone know around what rating number the top 40 usually gets cut off at?

Based on past years, 1870 is safe, 1850 is borderline, and 1830 isn't gonna make it. And assume some leeway around those numbers, especially this year...

I think the argument that Kettler was making was for the ratio of paid trips, not invites.
