So, some of you may know, i quit this game two years ago. I'm on spring break from college and i see that VA states are going on during the weekend. Hit up my friends Pram, Luke, Ben, and LJ to make sure i have a deck for it and then get a ride.... at 4:30 in the morning... oh well.
So i get there, see some old faces, get told i'm playing steelix that Mike apparently won with at MD. I'm like... ok cuz i have no idea what half these cards do, and set phasers to faceroll.
Round 1: Machamp/Elephant thing... donphan that's it.
Uh... i find out that steelix is pretty hefty. so.. win?
1-0
Round 2: Luxchomp w/ Donphan?
She gets like a T2 snipe off of my first onix and i have to scramble to get back into the game. Takes like 7 turns to set up a steelix but for some reason she got rid of all of her energy getting like 3 prizes so i get to just poke at her with an uxie till my steelix is up, and then she can't take it down.
2-0
Lunch Break.
We go to this hotel restaurant deal in the next room. Service was awful, my fries were cold, i was upset. and on top of that WVU lost.
Round 3: Nate Blevins Dialgachomp
So... dude gets 2 heads on Remove Lost twice in a row and then gets prizes faster than i can set up steelix number 2.
2-1
Round 4: Gyarados
Steelix one-shots gyarados. and this was like the one game i flipped heads... lol
3-1
Round 5: Machamp
Steelix one-shots the SF Machamp and can tank the other one
4-1
Round 6: Luke//Mirror Match
So i start with dialga which ends up being the only reason why i win. Get rid of his first steelix with my dialga and then we trade prizes, but that one less steelix is the game. That and combined we were like 4/12 on coin flips. Feel bad though cuz that's like a -30 in rating for him.
5-1
Round 7: Ryan Simmons/Luxchomp
I start god with like 3 pokedrawer an onix and a double colorless. So he can't get rid of steelix.
6-1
Sitting 3rd seed going in, feelin pretty good about myself.
Top 16 King of magikarps?
So i open up my deck box and i see a fire energy with the words "Dialga G Proxy" on it. Apparently the Dialga G i was using had a bend on the corner that was visible. Might be why i started with it 2 times that i didn't want to... -.- oh well. Fire energy it is.
Gyarados
Round 1
We both get set up but steelix has the one shot, gyarados doesn't.
1-0
Round 2
I start well and he can't get a gyarados up. or get a prize
2-0
Top 8 Ryan Simmons
LuxChomp
Round 1
Same guy i played round 7, He makes the biggest misplay not counting my metal energy and leaving my steelix with 10hp and i sweep with it.
1-0
Round 2
I get a decent start and sweep. SP can't take out steelix in a timely manner.
2-0
Top 4 LJ
Luxchomp w/ Absol tech
Round 1
Ambipom is the most annoying thing ever. after top decking ALOT of energy, i get over it and sweep him.
1-0
Round 2
His prizes are disgusting and i keep the annoying things off the board via Reversal.
2-0
Top 2 Curran Hill
So Machamp/Vileplume... fun. lol he was 10-0 coming in but i don't let that discourage me...
Round 1
I have 2 prized steelix... so that hurt alot. anyway i dig in, get one steelix out of 4 prizes, if i had gotten the 3rd i feel like i could've snaked out round 1, but that's neither here nor there.
0-1
Round 2
I don't have anything after steelix number one is gone. sitting pretty decent if i could get a collecter, or really... anything. but such is life lol. Top card after he seeker ends it... collector.
0-2
So i finish like 9-2 and second place after not playing for 2 years...
