Synergy help

Hey guys!
Had another bright deck idea, one that seems pretty good (and I'm fairly certain I've played a variant of it before) but it seems like it's going to go just a tad slow IMO.
Here's the Pokemon I'm currently planning on using
3-2-2/1-1 Salamence Lv.X (AR-AR-AR/SF-AR)
2 Lunatone (SV)
2 Solrock (SV)

Basically I need some help potentially speeding up Salamence and making sure I get Lunatone and Solrok out ASAP. Any suggestions on what could help?

I don't see how Lunatone helps Salamence. Solrock, I see just a bit good with that but not much.

Synergy isn't really what you want. Consistency is more what you are looking for and you aren't likely to get it with Salamence.

In any Pokemon deck, this one included, the goal is to get your necessary Pokemon as fast as possible. There are several ways to help this goal along: you can put in as many of your Pokemon as possible, for example. You can also add in cards that can search for them, so even if you don't draw the Pokemon itself, you draw what can find it.

To that end you usually do 4 Collector, 3 Bebe's Search, 2 Pokemon Communication, etc...

But past that, if you're still going slow, then what? The simple rule is to cut down on what you need; if you need less then you'll get what you do need quicker. This is where Salamence struggles, because you need so much to get it to work and until you have it all, it's all but helpless.

The other option with this format is to avoid speed altogether and just slow you and your opponent down (unequally) via Spiritomb, which would probably work out really well for you!

(@Rayquaza: You need both for either to work dude.)

I don't see how Lunatone helps Salamence. Solrock, I see just a bit good with that but not much.

Solrock needs Lunatone in play to use its Poke-Power and the SV Lunatone is better because it prevents my Solrocks and Lunatones in play from getting sniped by Level X Pokemon (or damaged at all).

@ Kayle: I see... So do something like you suggested and go with a 4 Collector, 3 Bebe's, 2 Pokemon Communication, and a Luxury Ball?
And Salamence doesn't need too much. All it needs is to be out, have a Solrock and Lunatone in play, and then keep getting energy close to the top of my deck to Top Accelerator it onto my Pokemon.

If I run Spiritomb, then I'd have to run a bit more supporters then, wouldn't I?

I think the common recommended trainer/supporter engine for a Stage 2 deck is:

- 4 Pokemon Collector
- 3ish Bebe's Search, maybe 4
- 2ish Pokemon Communication
- 4 Rare Candy
- 2+ Broken Time-Space
- 1 Luxury Ball

Candy and BTS make you quick enough to keep up with speedier decks.

You'd be surprised how much that really is.

To get Salamence out, you need 3 Pokemon cards, or 2 Pokemon cards and a Trainer card. Then you need energy attached to it - another 2-3 cards. Then you need Solrock and Lunatone. That's 2. So you need a specific set of about 7, 8ish cards - some of which are nearly impossible to search for.

And that's even before accounting for Top Accelerator, which is a huge pain to manipulate (though research docs makes it easier).

Then after that, you'll be "set up", but you will need OTHER cards to actually keep your deck rolling: new energy, new Research Docs, new Salamences, the Lv. X, etc...

How are you gonna get ~10+ cards out of a 7 card hand?

If I run Spiritomb, then I'd have to run a bit more supporters then, wouldn't I?

Yup yup. I'd recommend Copycat or PONT, a combination of at least two of 'em.

Hm...
I'll see how your suggestions work out.

Hm... I don't really know how I'd do that without running Night Teleporter and getting lucky with a heads to grab Uxie...

So should I do something like this:

3-2-2/1-1 Salamence Lv.X (AR-AR-AR/SF-AR)
2 Lunatone (SV)
2 Solrock (SV)
3 Spiritomb
2 Smeargle
1 Uxie
1 Azelf

4 Pokemon Collector
3 Bebe's Search
2 Pokemon Communication
4 Rare Candy
2 Broken Time-Space
1 Luxury Ball
3 Research Record
1 Palmer's Contribution
2 Professor Oak's New Theory
2 Copycat

6 Water Energy
6 Fire Energy
4 Double Colorless

(Note: I only have the one Uxie and one Azelf)

You might also consider using Seeker and/or Super Scoop Up and Pokemon Rescue in order to abuse Double Fall. During States, I won several matches while only KO'ing three Pokemon total but taking 6 Prize cards.

Using Twins may also be a good idea since this is a setup deck and is likely to fall behind early.

I used Slowking in my Salamence deck, but completely forgot about Solrock/Lunatone.

The only question is: What to take out. Right now, looking at the list, I think I should be able to get by without the Research Records and replace them with Super Scoop Up and possibly take out the smeargles...

Yeah, Twins seems like a good idea (Black Belt does as well) but I still have to wonder what to take out...

I was considering Slowking so I could not only get myself set up quicker but also slow down my opponent, but I realized that Lunatone/Solrock are just a tad better because they're basics and work together really well.
