Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

US Nationals 2011

So I just did a search for hotels and there really isn't ANYTHING around there. (Other than the JW Marriott for $324 a night!)

It makes me wonder if the PUI (or whatever) guys have already booked their rooms.

I'm going to call my stock broker and invest in parking garages in Indy.

If at this very moment, about 100 people who plan on attending Nationals have a hotel room, that represents less than 10% of the people who plan on attending. This housing problem will get worse before it gets better. The day they announced Nationals I tried to get a hotel, and found the hotel I usually stay at in Indy booked. Also, all of the hotels my friends had stayed at last year. There is usually a lot of talk surrounding events like Nats and Worlds that it should be pro family. This falls short.

Hopefully winning a Regionals will get me a place to stay.

Even if you get a room for Regionals win there won't be any Poke players at the hotel to test with!! I have been looking for condos to rent by the night as well without any luck. It is not looking good. Maybe we should all try to group up out at the airport and then bus it in during the day.

Hey guys, just a quick reminder, (Hoping to avoid having to pass out any infractions here), Room sharing / ride seeking posts
are against the rules.

Posting about lack of spaces / rooms and making observations, as have been done above, are perfectly fine, but I already had
to delete a post, so just tread cautiously please.

Can someone from the area come on and tell the players where to stay away from, as in bad areas of town. It's obvious that many players might have to stay around town and take buses, taxis, etc. Can you be a bit more specific than just saying west side or south side. Please provide as much details as possible. This would really help a lot of parents and players.

Thanks.

Anyone having any luck finding a room? There's a Kappa fraternity convention going on that overlaps with Pokemon - we haven't found anything close by. Starting to look driving distance out-

Everything reasonably close to the convention center is fully booked (except perhaps the new JW Marriott, but it's over $300 a night). Your only shot for staying close is to keep checking back and hope for a cancellation, or try playing roulette on Priceline.

Las Vegas may get a lot of hate, but this is one of the few cities in America that I can think of without hotel or parking problems. Obviously because of the casinos we have hotels EVERYWHERE (cheap too) and all these casinos have plentiful FREE parking as well.

I was considering going to Nats, but with the issue of finding a hotel to stay at that's within reasonable distance, plus getting straight JACKED on outrageous parking fees (not to mention airfare) seems like this would be a huge $$ expense just so I can play pokemon cards for a weekend. What am I looking at forthe whole trip if I split a room with 3 other friends? Somewhere around $900-1200?

At least world's is right next door, lol.

*glances at this thread being all like 'yeah, i got my own room for free'*

Just kidding, that's a jerk move, im really annoyed at the lack of rooms at nats. :/

It's easier to get rooms for Gen Con (30,000 attendees) than it is for US Nationals.

Go figure.

There's an Kappa-Alpha-Psi fraternity meeting, scheduled at 3,000 people. It looks like it's their Centennial, which means a TON of planning went into this one. I'm guessing that the organization itself booked as many rooms as it possibly could the moment it could. I'm also guessing that a ton of rooms will come available late when the organization can't fill them. If you wait a bit, you'll probably find something...

Are we sure that's the ONLY thing going on that weekend? I find it hard to believe that an event that is expected to draw 3,000 people has all the rooms booked but an event that draws 30,000 (Gen Con) still has rooms available.

I'm hoping Bullados is right regarding the organization booking rooms, but I find it really difficult to believe that they blocked off pretty much EVERY room in downtown Indy.

Well, my Grandparents booked the room, and they didn't have any problems. Weird, don't know which one yet though, but we will have a car, so we can drive if we need to. Anyways see y'all there.

Flight Booked and ready to go :D

Can't wait to see everyone there, it'll be probably one of the most exciting things I've ever done.

Less than 2 months!

I think the 3,000 on the ICC site is a typo. Kappa Alpha Psi has a total membership of over 150,000. 30,000 seems like a much more reasonable number of expected attendees.

And that would certainly account for the shortage of rooms.

The JW Marriott Downtown is the official Pokemon hotel. So paid Staff and trip winners will be staying there.

As far as available rooms go, Park Place City Centre still has 2 bedrooms for $99 or 3 bedrooms for $129 a nite still open. It is 1.5 miles from the Convention Center and there is a shuttle.

Hope this info can help:thumb:

I Pricelined the 3 1/2* Crowne Plaza at the airport for $70 last week. 10 min drive from downtown and parking looked plentifull at $20 for the whole day at the Mall garages, seems reasonable to me. There seemed to be some good hotels on the east side as well, the same distance away.

Priceline's definatly the way to go and I found a site, biddingfortravel.com where you can see what hotels you're likely to get for each zone and star based on others experience.

Anyways if anyone else ends up at the same hotel, my kid and I will be happy to test with you.

I heard there was some other convention or downtown event going on the same week as well that would also account for the rooms. I don't recall this however.
