If worlds is a different format with different cards than what Japan is used to, does the US just tell them that they can't use certain cards? Doesnt that make it more difficult for Japanese players to prepare for the metagame?

Yes.
And yes.

Well then I must say, that's really unfair, that's incredible that japanese players even cut at worlds, even winning lol. What would happen if worlds was in japan's format? This is the reason why we need the same sets at the same time... -___-

then everyone else is screwed cause they`d all use easy to get "ultra rares " and whip the floor

I'm sorry, but what "Ultra Rares" can the Japanese players get easily? The only things that would give them the advantage would be getting cards that we hadn't received yet, and even then, cards which are really good are very hard to get.

Can't really complain about Zoroark, as we got it in a tin.

Honestly, when it comes to Worlds, people get the cards they need. Pretty much everyone can trade or borrow from friends who aren't going, so it doesn't really become a factor.

Obviously cards that were only available in Japan couldn't be used.

they have alot higher pull ratios and get good cards in cheaper format aka promo zoroark landarous etc

I don't know where you get your info, but for things like secret rare cards, Japan does not have a better pull rate.

They've actually had to reprint cards at times, because we made them too easy to get.

When JPN card were legal for us to play, people always said that you got better pull rates in their sets (plus stuff like LV Xs in structure decks).

Dunno if it was true back then, or if it has changed since, but that's what was always claimed. That's one of the reasons some players were so unhappy when they were banned.

japan wins almost every year because they have had everything for awile and are used to it and there proplably going to win if they come this year because they are used to the format hs-on and face it have more practice than us pokemon is part of it's school system

Is not a better pull rate, sets are splitted, if you know the content, you can preset what you are gonna obtain, lets say I want to pull a non art reshiram or an emboar with ability, I only need to buy Black collection packs, since they are only included in that set, I buy 15, I get both and also a secret pikachu, but is imposible for me to get Zekrom, Zoroark, Reuniclus, Thundurus, Samurott with ability or any other stuff exclusive to the white collection boosters.

Boosters in japan have fewer cards, but the carlist is smaller as well; in america we have a differnt rarity setting, we get 10 cards per pack and a "chance" to obtain 2 rares with a bigger cardpool, making harder to get what you WANT, but in the end the good stuff pull rate is the same.

Also, we have some advantages over japan, specially when it comes to promos, remember japanese raichu prime got up to 500 bucks on auctions, Espeon and Umbreon got even harder to obtain; you needed to win like 3 tournaments in a row to earn them, we on the other side of the ocean just need to buy undaunted packs and complain for not getting a scissor instead of those crappy primes.

Um do we even know how the Japanese are getting their invites this year? Their Nationals was cancelled because of the Tsunami.

Pokemon part of their school system?

:nonono:

Well put this into another perspective, quite a few of them know English. Guess what one of the sites they probably get ideas on what our metagame is and what's hot/not? XD

ranking invite id assume........ maybe lcq

AFAIK Japan doesn't do ranking invites like we do, they just have World Championship Qualifier events, and these were the event that were cancelled.

I think the only Japanese players getting invites are the ones who Top 4'd last year, and ones who get through the grinder.

I'm just picturing the Japanese players reading the Deck Help forum and saying 'Oh . . . . so THAT's what they're all playing for Worlds!'

That totally does not explain their success.

The japanese have always adapted pretty darn well to our formats. It is like the old saying...you either know how to play or you dont. Obv., they know how to play!
