Where in the world did Brock (and Dawn) go?

Actually, if I remember correctly, Brock and Dawn left at the end of Sinnoh League Victors to go home and quit adventuring.

What you remember is wrong.

Brock was going to become a doctor as he saw Ash and Dawn grow as people but he didn't...

Dawn went to Johto

Brock and Dawn are still there. As are Misty, Max, and May. Due to ash being in a coma, all the characters can be summoned into the plot in an instant. Ash does not grow like Brock because it is impossible to do so, it is not in ash's mental capacity.

Ash is really always been in a coma and made up the whole idea of pokemon in his head. All of his adventures were all made up. Notice caterpie is the "caterpillar pokemon" how in the world do they know what a caterpillar is? And what is in those burgers? Tarous? Miltank? And Ash is a big fat liar all the time making all these stupid promises. Coming back for primeape?Meeting the Samurai again. Visiting pidgeot? I loved the old character of Ash cause he made me want to go and get my dreams (I was around 4 when I first watched the show) now this new Ash is still somehow 10 (even though they recognize the anniversary of ash and pikachu meeting in the pichu bros special. Pokemon has so many gaps in the story which makes the TV show really, really annoying.

My daughter actually brought that up one day while we were watching the show -- she asked if all the humans were vegetarians, as there were never any "normal" animals to be seen, and *surely* people weren't eating Pokemon.

They had to eat Pokemon! Remember the old episode where Ash, Misty, Brock, and Team rocket where stranded out in sea because the boat they were on sank? They wanted to eat a Magikarp that James got on the boat, anyone remember?

^They were delirious then if you were starving and saw a fish
that YOU knew was posonious you would eat it not that karps
are poisonous

Okay, trying to not get too far off on a tangent, I miss Brock but the entire cast needs to be changed out!

As for animals in the world of Pokemon, I blame it on the series being stylized and geared toward children. You did see the occasional "normal" animal in the world of Pokemon, although rare and mostly early on. Notice how animals and insects are replaced by Pokemon, but no other lifeforms with Pokemon equivalents. We don't have only Pokemon substituting for fungus, micro-organisms, people or plants, and yet Pokemon that could exist. It is just the writers wanting to show off Pokemon.

Now I am aware that early in Pokemon references were made to eating them, but that was before they were so "humanized" and I don't know if the original Japanese refers to it this way...
