Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

What decks do you think will do good at Autumn BR's?

None of this matters. We'll find out how good Gothitelle is once Battle Roads start. We'll find out whether Magnezone can succeed in a Catcher format once Battle Roads start. Personal testing does not determine which decks are good or bad; that's what tournaments are for.

Just wondering, have you tested against donchamp yet? Donphan would probably take 1 or 2 prizes before you set up trainer lock, then a player could send up a machamp with fighting tag to knock out gothitelle in a single hit... and you cant return the KO.. Well I suppose you could if you ran pluspower.. (Do you? Idk your list that well.. Just from what I saw when you played ryan)

My list is consistent enough to throw down goth my second turn 90% of the time. I can kill machamps under stages with dced madkenesis. It really doesn't worry me much.

If your list is consistent enough to get it 90% of the time, then so is anyother list. just sayin.

Good players will do well at battle roads. Good players with good luck will win them.

Virtually everything that saw considerable play at Worlds adapted to face the realities of a meta with Catcher, Max Potion, and Gothitelle will succeed in the current format.

You will see lots of bad players losing with Gothitelle because they build it like a combo deck rather than using skillful play, consistency, and abuse of asymmetry to win close matches, contributing to the illusion of a significantly luck-based format.

More or less same old same old.

Yanmega/Magnezone
Stage 1 Rush
TyRam
ReshiBoar w/ techs (very few but some will win)
Gothitelle variants
a random Beartic variant ( very few but some will win)
MewBox Decks ( few but some will win )
ZPTS

**basically alot of things with Yanmega Prime and/or Donphan Prime**

Those are my predictions ! Maybe this will help get this back on track !

(Another machamp supporter or so his name states) Machampion, if we go back to the previous topic everyone will just list the same decks over and over and over again.

Amphy. why is that a joke again? Adam from sixprizes went 8-1 at nationals with it..

Yes he did do that. Was it considered for worlds like ajhawk's TyRam deck was? No

It's not even tier 2. And running it in a Catcher format, especially when Goth is on the loose. I can tell you right now, that NO ONE is thinking about running that for BR. Especially since we'll have a regional right after it. Players are going to want to test their best decks at BR's and Donchamp isn't one of them atm.

I was just having a little fun though. It was pretty funny at the time though.

Goth is not unbeatable. I just feel it is the deck to beat. It neutralizes about a fourth or more of most decks while doing nothing to harm your own. That is why it is so good. But arguing will get us nowhere. Just, be prepared for a lot of her, and a lot her doing very well.

Of course everyone will post about the same decks, that what always happens in these "what will win threads".

The only decks we know for sure are going to be played and do well are the decks that did well at Worlds just because a lot of people will be playing those decks because they did well.

-TyRam
-Ross deck
-Yanmega/Zone
-Magneboar
-Stage 1s

Many people will be experimenting with newer decks with the new EP cards. Not sure how these will do, but they will definitely be in the competition.

-Beartic/Vileplume (or just straight Beartic)
-Gothitelle

EVERY deck that does not use trainer-lock will be experimenting with Pokemon Catcher

-ZPS/Tornadus
-Reshiboar
-Donphan/anything
-etc.

Those are some of the decks we can predict will show up and do well. There are many other rogue-ish decks that I have not listed that might make an appearance, but these are the ones that probably will do well.

Beartic and Gothitelle may not do well at first, bu with the right tweaking and a consistent decklist, they both have potential

Beartic is solid. Gothitelle is good, but way too vulnerable to be T1. Other decks in the past that have been considered T1 (Luxchomp, Dialgachomp, Yanmega/Magnezone, Stage 1s, Dialga G/Palkia G, Horsemega) have outs to almost any situation. If Gothitelle comes up against a Mewpluff, Xatu (even though it's an inferior counter), Beartic, or even a Bellsprout, the deck self-destructs.

IMO, the tier list will look something like:

TIER 1
Stage 1 Variants (lots of playable Stage 1s to choose from)
MewPluff Vileplume
Zekrom/Tornadus

TIER 2
Magneboar
Reshiphlosion
Gothitelle
Beartic/Vileplume
Yanmega/Magnezone
Horsemega
Ross' deck

TIER 3
Donchamp
Scizor (on the backburner until Kyurem is released)
Steelix (on the backburner until Kyurem is released)
RDL Rush
Reshiboar

Disclaimer: If Gothitelle takes a lot of BRs, it's because of the hype surrounding it and popularity, not because it's a Tier 1 deck.

Due to the rediculous out-of-hand off-top remarks that were said in this thread, I have decided to close the thread until I am able to contact the poster of the thread and discuss what needs to happen in order for it to be re-opened.

In the meantime, this thread will remain closed for now. And any similar thread like it will be closed as well. I appoligize for the inconvinience this causes the members, we should have this back open soon. Thanks.

Do you think Yanmega/Magnezone is that bad now or did you just forget it?

Where would you place Yanmega/Vileplume varients under?

Your underestimating the true potential of Gothitelle. All of those facts that you said are true, but there are plenty of ways out of this. Against Bellsprout for instance, you have DCE to retreat the Reuniclus active, or a switch card to get out of that predicament and OHKOing Bellsprout for 90+. There goes your counter right there.

Beartic can stall for a few turns, giving you enough time to get your setup going and stuff. Once you have Gothitelle on the active and Reuniclus on the bench, you can place the damage counters on Zekrom for a OHKO on Beartic. Even though your opponent might have another Beartic ready to knock out your weakened Zekrom, you can still promote Gothitelle with enough energies to knock out another Beartic. In case you didn't have enough energies on Gothitelle, you can always use the Jirachi + Shaymin combo to bring the energies right back from the discard pile to power up Gothitelle. It's highly unlikely that your opponent will have another third Beartic to take its place, since the deck can only run 4 DCE and not to mention the energy drought issues.

The fact that Beartic can only deal 50 damage means you can stall out the match until time is called, since Beartic can barely put a dent on the deck, thanks to Reuniclus and Max Potions/Blissey Prime.

I forgot it - I would consider it Tier 2. Vulnerable to quick KOs, and Catcher will make it hard to power up Magnezone for consistent KOs. It's still a good deck with lots of options and unlimited damage output (which is huge if Reuniclus starts seeing play).

Yanmega/Vileplume all depends on what it's paired with. In general, I think Vileplume variants will have a good showing, because the new format will be trainer-heavy.

As for Gothitelle, it's either a 2 or 3-turn charge up depending on the output you're going for. A lot of people don't run DCE for this reason. For those that do, it's still decent disruption. Are you going to draw enough DCEs/Energy that you can power-up Gothitelle and afford to put a DCE on Reuniclus early in the game? Bellsprout's searchable with a Collector, and only requires 1 energy. If you can't retreat same turn, that's a whole turn of trainers, which could be huge for your opponent. I'm not saying anyone will run Bellsprout, but it's an easy tech, and along with many other cards it's proof of an easy techable counter to the deck if it gets too big.

The deck's good and can completely steamroll other decktypes, but it's too vulnerable to be T1, that's what I'm saying. Anyone that underestimates it will lose to it, but if you decide to run it it's a heavy risk that other people will have the game by running a few key techs.

Here's my guess of what the tier list will probably look like
