What's the oldest pack you have seen on a store shelf in the past few weeks?

Did you buy it?

If so, then what did you pull?


The other day, I was thrown off guard when I saw a Holon Phantoms pack, still sealed, sitting on a Wal-Mart shelf!

Nowadays, I almost never buy boosters unless they're part of a bulk deal, but I decided to make this an exception: after all, I had a Wal-Mart gift card in exchange for a refunded item a few weeks back.

So I took the pack out to my car, turned on the radio, sliced open my pack...And who should greet me but this handsome card?!

For the first time since I was a kid, I actually did a mental fist pump in my head. My inner nerd was satisfied for a whole week...


So share your old school pack stories here. Try not to make this about who found the OLDEST pack; this is more about individual experiences than competition over the best pulls/best packs.

lol about 7 months ago i went to k-mart and they had 6 frlg pacs sealed in the blister and i was like omg so i sold them to my freind for 20 a pop

$20 for 5 Expedition Packs is a bargain! Usually, the late WOTC packs are valued $7~10! Or even more! Y U NO GOT THE CASH!?

I saw Base Set back in 1999 :p

These days I only see packs like Crystal Guardians, Legend Maker, Hidden Legends, Holon Phantoms. I've bought a couple of Power Keepers packs for $3.50 before too.
 
most of the older ex packs are going up like firered/leafgeen and unseen forces but anyways the oldest pack i have seen is a base set and jungle pack

I think someone's backroom stock must be cleared out; otherwise, I wouldn't have seen that HP pack in the opening post.

Re Miamisportsfan: I decided to open it because I'm not interested in reselling it, nor am I interested in collecting sealed product. Besides, HP is a very nostalgic set to me, so it was great to open up a pack of it. : )

And for all these guys saying they've seen Base packs recently in stores...How much are they selling for? Do they go for an insane amount, or something reasonable? I would imagine that the buried-away stock of base stuff is reemerging, too, but I can't say for sure...
 
shocking thing is they dont since the stores want to get rid of leftovers i seen them sell for about 5 or less a pack.majority of them dont even go higher than that.i asked one of the stores if they had any leftover and just told me when they clear out stock it will be out so they dont even know if they got some in the back unless they take it out
 
I actually misspoke earlier; I saw one store in the area that had boxes if all WOTC era sets.

Actually I checked the hobby shop today....had a box of seal base set (unlimited). a few backs of jungle, few packs of legend maker and dragon frontiers
