Oldest Pack You've Seen on Store Shelves?

Guy who runs one of my local leagues and sells stuff has EX Team Rocket Returns, IIRC, along with some other mid- to late-EX series stuff.

Anyone who sees FRLG for $5/ea should snap them up. Sandstorm, Dragon, and R&S are all good for that price, too. Anything older, definitely take for $6 or less. One thing I've noticed is that sealed Neo-era boosters are EXTREMELY rare in stores. Lord knows why. Fossil, Jungle, Rocket, etc. and even Base pop up once in awhile, but Neo is just conspicuously absent. Anyone know if those had a shorter print run, or what?

I've noticed this, too. A couple of the shops in my area carry older cards; I've seen Base Set, Jungle, TR, Base Set 2, and a bunch of R/S-on, but never any Neo block.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say it's about supply and demand. There might not be much supply for the first five sets, but there's demand. There are also a lot of people in our area who still play with EX decks, so they might want to buy packs from those. But Neo's.... just kind of faded away. :nonono:
 
neo boxes go for ridiculous amounts on ebay when they pop up heck i remember seeing the 1st edition neo destiny booster box went over 900 for it sealed.my guess is during the neo era alot of the players kinda died down from pokemon and went into something new more or so yugioh or magic.
 
Oldest pack I ever say was Base Set 2. I saw it at nationals at Troll and Toad's shop. They were selling for $6 each. I got 2 of 3 of them. I got 2 holos including a Venesaur.
 
Neo destinys pack for 5 at walmart, I bought it and got a cool looking scizor. After I saw a firered for the same and got gengar ex :p

And out of nowhere, my local Target has Delta Species packs. I'm quite tempted, I haven't bought a pack at a store for about 10 years. If only I could get a Kyogre * :D
 
hmmm... next time i'm out by my grandparents (middle of nowhere, lol) i might have to check out what they have in stock.
 
I just started playing again, and I asked my cousin if he had the old cards we played with as kids (Base set, Jungle, Fossil, 2nd Base set, and some Team Rocket stuff). He said he had a box full of 'em. I snapped it up, and while looking through it found a ton of holographics, like Venusaur, Chansey, quite a few Raichu's and Machamp's, etc. Your basic stuff. Didn't find a Charizard, haha.

It was fun to see all that stuff again. Those cards don't seem very great compared to the newer stuff :/

Can't say I've seen any boosters in any stores that are older than the set that was before BW.

I found 3 packs of BASE set for $2 in one of those small shops that sells random junk.
I opened them and got a Beedrill, Pokemon Breeder and Nidoking.

2-3 weeks later I saw them sell on eBay for over $100 for one pack

About a year ago I boght ten of the aquapolis packs for 4bucks each of course I opened them but got crap in them

tbf the packs going for over $100 will be first edition...a whole lot rarer than normal ones. regular ones are only around $10-$15 each
