Since the previous one was locked (I thought it was a great idea), I decided to make a new thread for discussion of who is going to win the 2012 World Championships. It's probably smart to limit the discussion to Masters, because let's be honest, the Japanese will probably take the lower age divisions because they're better.

Let's get started!

Also, please make sure to give reasons for why Gino Lombardi is going to win Worlds. Do not just give a name, lest this be locked as a poll. Hopefully we can have an intelligent, respectful, and spirited discussion. Thanks!

gino obviously. he blends skill and sexiness in a way that only a world champion could. it is his destiny and I can see no one more fitting to be the champion than him

Unparalleled decision making, constant awareness of the game state, acute deckbuilding skills which make for the best lists possible, and swag?

Gotta be Gino Lombardi.

Well if we break it down to who has played the best throughout their entire career, I would have to say Gino Lombardi. I mean come on. He won nationals, then got 3rd at worlds the same year. He consistently does well at every tournament he enters. Whoever wants to disagree should feel bad because the obvious choice is Gino Lombardi.

Josue "Crimz" Rojano. He has the greatest theoretical mind in all of tcgs.

Is what I would say if Gino's theoretical tcg mind wasn't better

While there are many possible candidates for who is most likely to win worlds, I believe that the best man for the job is definitely Gino Lombardi. Ask him to show you his personal trainer card.

I think Pooka will make a really good showing at Worlds this year as he focuses in after a disappointing US Nationals experience. I think he will make it to the Finals, but I think he will meet his end there at the hands of Gino Lombardi. Gino has been working with Josue "Crimz" Rojano and thepliskin, which means you have the three greatest theoretical minds in the game all working on the world championship deck. And yes, Crimz has been helping Gino in developing this masterpiece, as him and Pooka got a divorce after an argument on the Top Cut two episodes ago.

I will be rooting for Pooka. I think that if he focuses and considers all options, he could beat Gino, as long as he considers each move and their drawbacks. Or maybe even John Roberts II, because he obviously has what it takes to do well at large events, but I don't know if he is going. Not trolling. JMHO.

Hold up. Pooka? For real?

Let's look at the facts. The best Pooka has ever done is T16, and that was all the way back in 2004. The fact that he has gone so long without top cutting makes it questionable as to whether he is even a Worlds-caliber player, much less championship material. Now, Gino Lombardi got 3rd place at Worlds. 3rd place.

Vablakes, I noticed that you're into Jesus. If you think of Gino Lombardi as sort of a Pokémon Jesus, maybe it will help you understand what the rest of us already do: there is absolutely no way Pooka, John Roberts, or anyone else has a shot at the World Championship title as long as Gino is competing.
