EX series different codes in corner? Italian different?

The EX series have a 9 digit code in the bottom left corner of every card. Apparently there were 3 different codes for each common and 2 for each uncommon.

My question is, why did they do that? What is the difference between the codes? I've never used them for whatever they were used for, because I didnt start collecting Pokemon again until HGSS.

Are you talking about the e reader series... the bar code on the bottom when scanned thru the ereader = pokedex entry , the one on the left is the actual card.

No the ones after they stopped doing that. There is a little code at the bottom. I see on my cards that the same card has different codes.

More than likely that code was used for printing purposes, i.e. to figure out when and when said card was printed.

No proof, I am just making an honest guess.

I'm not sure how printing works, but there are apparently 3 different codes for commons and 2 for uncommons.

If that is the case, then they could have been used for grouping purposes. Since there are always more commons then uncommons, that could be why there are 3 for C and 2 for UC.

I personally don't think it really matters haha, unless you were a very thorough person and wanted to collect one card of each 9 digit code, for each set

I considered it for my Voltorb collection, but seeing as how each language that printed them had these codes, AND it applies to RH cards as well, I'm not willing to waste time trying to find all of them. I'd just be biting off more than I can chew haha

I actually plan on doing something like this. I want to at least make a huge checklist for every single code, so that anyone who wants to collect each set of numbers (like myself) will have an easier time doing so.

I have like 99% of the EX series completed.. do you want some of the digits on my cards to make sure you don't miss any numbers?

That's awesome. When I start compiling the list, I'll contact you. Your set will be a great help :D

Why are there different numbers anyways? does each one unlock something different thru the ereader? I remember there were 4 extra cards in aquapolis with the a and b like drowzee a and drowzee b

No, the E-Reader codes are different. From what I've read, it is believed that they were used to organization and layout purposes, such as where the card is placed in the sheet for printing. This explanation seems solid when explaining the existence of the codes, but does not really explain why there are multiple codes :/

There are similar codes on Diamond and Pearl through Legends Awakened. DPBP#
I don't think they are the same thing as the codes on the EX series cards.

I also want to collect all the different cards with different codes.
At this moment I've compared all my R&S and Sandstorm cards and have a lot of different codes.
When I've completed my search (it will take some time) I can send you my list so you can compare it with yours, if you want.

Whatever you guys find, you should post here, or let me know. Or start an official thread about it lol If its not too much trouble, I would consider it, so I can have a master collection of Torbs!

Wheneve I find something about Torbs I will let you know ;) The Dutch ones are on their way.

As far as I know their are 3 codes for each common, 2 codes for each uncommon and 1 code for each rare, Holo, RH, EX and Goldstar. As for now I've got most of the R&S and Sandstorm codes.
