The Illustrator for sure.

I am strictly a WOTC collector and am very intrigued by the Prerelease Raichu (Raichu is also my favorite Pokemon), but if I were given the chance to purchase one card or the other, I would have to have the Illustrator.

It's the gem of gems. There is only one card like it out there. There are no reprints or any cards that look similar. Owning an Illustrator really sets a collection apart from others in all realms of Pokemon TCG collecting.

Neither one exists in PSA 10 but if they did...

"I Choose You, Raichu!"

I would put the other card as the best Japanese card though.

@gary did you see my PM

A pikachu with a paintbrush rules all! but i choose the illustrator because it has better artwork than the raichu

I like the art of the Illustrator more, but the Pre-Release Raichu seems to be more mystical. It's a tough one.

In the end I'd pick the one that was the better long term investment :p Maybe Raichu?

I put my vote in for the Illustrator, personally. The Prerelease Raichu is fascinating but it doesn't interest me the way the Illustrator does. Mainly because the Illustrator is exclusive artwork and the Raichu is just a regular card with a stamp.

Did you notice people who prefer English cards over Japanese Cards pick the prerelease Raichu
and whoever is interested in Japanese cards pick the illustrators

I am much more in favor of japanese cards than english but I consider the prerealease raichu to be the rarest card ever.

I'd pick the Illustrator...much prefer the artwork and less people will question its authenticity ;)
