How would one go about using one on themselves?

pss menu hit start go to 2nd page hit o-power chooese one of the ones you want choose the level hit the use button near the bottom

It is definately possible. On my game it comes up with "use this for 3 gem thing" or "give away for 1"

It might just be the particular opower that you cant use on yourself tho. I know tgere is a couple that i couldnt give away

Actually to be honest, I just never ever went to the second screen. Now that OHB suggested it, I happened to see the little arrow for access to the second screen - where I didn't even bother looking before. Now I can use everything on myself as well. Thanks.
