D/P partner

My son is playing Pearl and he now has a partner trainer with him on the journey. Is there a way to lose the partner? Thanks for any help anyone can give!

You don't get a permanet partner. There are rare occassions when you are asked to preform a certain mission and will be asked to walk with another person through a forest, cave, or something like that. Once the mission is complete, then the character will say goodbye and give you an item in return.

Oh, ok thanks. Is there a way to find out your mission? I bet my son didn't read it the first time when he got the partner....

Probably. Going through Eterna Forest? Exit is upper right of the map. Iron Island? Get to the bottom. Partners are very useful, actually... If you don't mind not trying to continue in the game, and actually take the time, they let you level up your Pokemon considerably (experience from 2 wild Pokemon, not just 1), take no experience from you, and heal you after every battle. Honestly, I WISH I always had a partner.

MV also forgot to mention the one cave, can't remember what it's called, but the one after you beat the PL, on the big island... anyway, just get the guy up to the part on the north wall.

I assume it's the first of mine, but I put the second, just in case, based on the initial reaction of having a partner.

In Victory Road, just before you exit. There is an area blocked by someone. This opens after Beating the E4. You will get a partner here. Also after beating the E4 you can take a ship to Fight Area, which you can access Stark Mountain. In Stark Mountain for part of the Venture, you Team up here also. As mentioned before, Teaming up is a Great way to build your Team up for the E4. If you go to Iron island, and don't battle the Galactic Team at the end. You can battle for as long as you like, while your Team is healed after each battle. You can even leave and come back later should you get tired of training there.

dont forget that riley also becomes your partner. Which is located in iron island right around where you get your 5th badge and you get riolu from the egg.

I would also like to point out that you can in fact re-team with those partners again later on in the game, in the Battle Tower Multi-rooms. However, unfortunately, you don't gain experience for it, and you're healed inbetween battle sin any of the other rooms anyway, so really not worth it.

Because your rRival is a main character. And aside from witch, it has to be one that you actually teamed up with, like walked around with and battled with at the same time. You never travel with Lucas/Dawn, and the speedy blond Rival you battle with once and travel with once, but at different times, so neither count.

Actually, you do travel with Lucas/Dawn when they show you how to catch a Pokemon, and you do battle with them in Jubilife and Vielstone.

Not at the same time though. And when you follow the character around, that's not traveling with, otherwise the partner feature would have been around since the G/S/C days, with the old man you had to follow in Cherrygrove to get the map.

True, its only traveling together when you're in control of where you go, but the effects still apply when you battle with Lucas/Dawn. You still get exp from double battling with Lucas/Dawnlike you would from a normal double battle even though you can't go around with them training on wild pokemon whenever you want. :cool:not cool yo.
