Grumpig --- The new Ludicargo

In the last format this was not that good but now I see potential in this card, beacause Infernape, Magmortar, Empoleon and Hurricane are well played deck so this would reduce 30 damage (Empoleon might get around that, with CC) each time they attack it, not only that, it can do up to 110 damage.
What to you think?

No, not really. Ludicargo was special in that you would Smooth Over and then Swing Dance to essentially draw 1 card of your choice; the fact it had Circular Steps just made it all that better, but it could still have gotten stopped if the bench wasn't big enough on both sides. Grumpig has lower HP, no draw support like how Magcargo and Ludicolo comboed, and given the faster pace of the game, you aren't as likely to see big benches immediately. Just my opinion.

If you're looking solely at Circular Steps, even then it wasn't so great, as it is too dependent on the bench size of both players. Both sides would need full benches just to reach the max of 110, which these days is out of OHKO range for some of the more bulkier Pokemon like Blissey, Empoleon, etc. without the use of Plus Powers or Strength Charms.

It could work, but no where near as good as Ludicargo. With Nidoqueen, it could work, but (and I know this probably won't work) what about Luxray (DP) (probably in a 1-0-1 line) for it's Poké-Power? (Try to)fill their bench to try and keep that high damage going.
And of course, the average HP is up, so, as Regis Neo said, you won't be able to OHKO some of the more bulky Pokémon.

My brother and i play tested grumpig. it really doesn't matter where your opponent's bench is. Most likely they'll have two and if you can keep your bench, that's 70 for three (60 for 2 if you DRE) on a stage 1 with resistance to very popular cards. It's no ludicargo, and in the end we decided against it for BR's but it's a respectable card and averages 70+ damage by turn 3. all-in-all, it's a well over-looked card that's actually not half bad.

This won't work against Hurricane. All I have to do is show you 2 more nrg for OHKO.

If you want somthing to beat the decks you listed, use Blissy.

Speed Grumpig could be a very nice deck.
You would want to base your deck around Grumpig and another Pokemon, but I could see it working.
It makes it out of KO range for Ape and Empoleon most of the time.
AND many decks need at least 3 bench pokemon or more to function properly. You prolly will average about 80-100 for 3 which is pretty darn good.

It has potential, BUT then again so do a lot of things.

Grumpigs body makes it good too. Minus 30 from Empoleon and Inernape/ other water or fire things. Magmortar and Gatr as well.

I just said that it dosn't mean ANYTHING to Gatr. All I do is show you 2 more nrg for the OHKO. And it dosn't have much hp to begine with.

Chingling/Chimecho would be good starters for this to help get you bench set up quickly. As for a secondary attacker, something that has Psychic resistsance might be useful (Absol Ex maybe) or something that has very low attack costs since PPC wil be hard to recover from if it gets KO'd before it does enough damage to your opponent's Pokemon.

Maybe Grumpig and Nidoqueen d/ Nidoqueen MT? Larger bench? <-- Nidoqueen MT. Opponent's large bench+ your large bench? <-- Grumpig. Delta Nidoqueen for searching pokes. Could work.

i like the idea, but i hate the fact that both poke's need 3 nrg to attack.

I run my Grumpig with Mightyena for psychic resistance and Delcatty for draw. Both of the ex's cause disruption end keep your bench up. It's a decent deck, and as much as pika would have us believe otherwise, it hold it's own quite well against Feraligatr and pretty much any fire/water deck (even bench hits are reduced by 30).

guys, guys, guys. just remember that hurricane is the best deck of 'em all, so... yeah

[i hate hurricane:thumb:]
